One Yukkuri Place

Maricha Game

Posted under General

So I know there was an effort to translate this a few years ago that died because the files were encrypted or something. But today I tried editing some of the .txt files for the dialogue in English to see if anything changed, and to my surprise, it worked.

It looks like translating this game (or at least the dialogue) is certainly a realistic prospect. But other than a few lines in http://yukkuri.shii.org/forum_topics/5421, most of the work done through the previous TL project http://yukkuri.shii.org/forum_topics/8629 was in blocks of strings, which I do not want to parse through. If any of the old contributors to the TL are still here, we can reboot the project.

EDIT
So I was bored today and I had a free afternoon so I decided to go through and copy-paste all the 1700~ lines of the old translation project into the text files. Overall, it works pretty well, and most use cases within the game should be translated, though there are a few issues:

>Only dialogue is translated
The text file only affects the yukkuri's dialogue, nothing else is translated like the menu. The way to modify the other text varies on a case to case basis: some like the save/load menu and the title screen are just pictures that can be photoshopped. Others like the main menu sidebar and the poo poo dance lyrics I don't know how to work with.

>Not all the dialogue is translated
It's been 2 years since the TL project finished and since then there has been quite a few lines added to the game, for instance anything that has to do with accessories. I have a basic knowledge of Japanese so I could pick up the slack on a few lines that consist of "eajy" and "yuuu" and "peni-peni" and whatnot, but more complicated sentences I decided not to touch. Hopefully someone with a fluent grasp of both Japanese and Yukkuri vernacular could finish the job.

>Text occasionally doesn't fit in bubbles
Yeah, sometimes the text extends a few letters past the boundary of the text bubble, but for the most part they fit just fine, and when it does extend it's usually readable. I don't know the cause of this or how to fix this. It's not that big of an issue, but fixing it would be nice.

The version I've worked with is 1.89, but I presume for subsequent versions you can just copy and paste the contents of the text files and have no problems. There's another script for adult Marisa in there but I really don't want to touch that. The good news is that at least there's no slurring so it should be easier to work with.

To install, just unzip into the root folder of the game.

1.90 has no changes to the text.

Updated

Apparently there's a "stress" meter now because Marisa now has an Anti-yukkuritis state where she's just braindead and will only shudder and mumble "eajy" while having a weird laughing face (like the one at the end of kiriraitaa's True Happiness) . I have no idea what combination of actions prompt it but it's there.
There's a ton of new variables in the debug/stat screen, anyone know what the rest of them do?

well i know that if you cut off the peni peni she sits there all brain dead as you say

it doesn't always happen like that, i tied her down and then stuck a pin when her peni peni was out and bam brain dead.

Well that is 2 ways to "mind break" her both involving penipeni

There are other ways to mind break her but they all involve high amounts of stress.
You can destroy her hat through cutting or fire, or put her in the fire herself, and that could potentially trigger it, but you need high stress for the former and really high stress for the latter. There's also spearing the mamumamu, like previously mentioned.
Cutting the penipeni on the other hand has a low threshold of stress needed for activation, meaning it's practically guaranteed to mind break on anything that's not a fresh new yukkuri.

There's a few fun ways to raise stress quickly. You can spear the mamumamu and lots of stress will go up every second, you can put a metal box over her and spam hammer on the box to raise it quickly. You can rub her face in poo poo. Most things that have to do with the hat create great amounts of stress, like taking it out of reach and making it run for it, making it disappear, or destroying it. If it's an adult, the screwdriver is able to be moved, so move the screwdriver back and forth for sick stress gainz. I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot more ways. Alternatively you can open the debug menu and just give it maximum stress.

Multiple yukkuris have been added, and with that the game finally transitions from Alpha into Beta 1.00. There is supposedly a max of 55 yukkuris per room, though the dev plans to limit it to 20. I gotta say, this game is surprisingly CPU intensive: I can barely sustain 30FPS on my laptop. Debug menu only works for the first yukkuri so far, but he plans to add switching. Unfortunately they don't really have any significant interactions with each other yet, but give it time. There's a few bug fixes too, along with image tweaks for the poo poo dance. Unpacked filesize is also sharply reduced by ~200MB which is great; I always found it hilarious how a 45MB zip could unzip into 450MB.

Translation wise, the text is exactly the same outside of one block of text added in 1.91 for refusing to eat direct feeding. If you wanted you could just find that block and paste it into the translated script, and it works perfectly. You could also not do that and just paste the trans script as is, but that glitches the "name placeholder" in those lines a bit.

ive been playing the beta and i can't seem to get the YUs to interact with each other. That is the thing you want to do. Pick on one, rub rub the other, make them jealous make them fight each other lol. until the game has that i'll play the other one

ok im having trouble downloading the new version any one have some tips or instructions

Depends on what is the problem
Is it the original or the translation?

You can make maricha pregnant now - stalk-type. Not much abuse to do yet, though, other than ripping them off or making them grow in a bag of nutrients instead.

Beg pardon if I'm missing anything obvious, but is there a way to freeze and/or release your captive Marisas (or Reimus too now)?

They're frozen when they're in their sleeping dormant state. They're in an icetray. You can't refreeze them after you put them in the Yukkurarium.
To release, go to the "clean" menu (second from the top) and click the right tab. The first option "disposes of the dead", meaning if you use it on a corpse it gets buried with a nice little headstone saying cause of death in the cemetery area (if you use it on a living one the headstone will say "Buried Alive", lol). The second option is the "release into the wild" option, it has a picture of a Marisa in a plastic sack. Both gets rid of your Yukkuri from the Yukkurarium but the second one doesn't put them in the cemetery. You can also release this way from the icebox menu. Supposedly, if you keep releasing intelligent Yukkuris, the average intelligence of the wild ones will rise.

how do you get them to take things like leaves into their house?

As far as I know they do that on their own when they feel like it
Though it never happened to me
