One Yukkuri Place

Poll for text story

Posted under General

Premise:

I'd like to write another yukkuri story, however, I've ran out of interesting ideas for a short (or "micro"...) story.

This means I'll have to try with a multi-chapter work.

Over the time I've come up with these four plots:

  • Yet another life of a breeder/trainer
  • A sort of slice of life which at some point would cross the breeder/trainer story but is unrelated
  • A story based on an older one (not mine) which I wrote and I'm like at 1/4 to the end but put on hold because I felt like I wasn't really going forward
  • An action story in the spirit of shounen mangas

Out of these I opted on the last one, as it looks like the simplest one to write.
That is, assuming I actually do it.

Poll:

Would there be any interest in reading a text-only shounen manga with yukkuri if I do it?

Shounen manga styled fanfics tend to drag. And it tends to end up in too many inserts of a lot of descriptions of action scenes which you would later look at as unnecessary.

If you are up to it you can do a choose your own adventure survival story instead where the posters vote what happens next. Those are always hilarious because of all the railroading by the voters to do stupid stuff. Give a day before you count the votes. There is also a very interesting facet to this as well which we'll later find out about the 3rd poll in.

The real problem with action scenes is describing fast movements.
It just feels so slow reading it rather than seeing a picture...

Too much for what I can offer.
That's why I'm making a poll before writing, because a multi-chapter works require commitment, unlike a one-shot, and I'd like to know if I should do it (mostly, if there are readers), as I'd need to organize my time.

Late edit:
However if people are interested in reading something else that is not a CYOA, I'll consider it.

I know you are aware I read most of the works in YFT but I do not post there and one of things that I have always found quite nice is that you do your own thing despite the seeming lack of activity there lately. I like your short stories more than the other poster's multi-chapter ones because you get to see the end of the story instead of waiting for god knows when the next installment gets created.

If you do longer stories, dont forget to try to make short stories when inspiration hits you. Those are always welcome, I would think, by the english speaking community.

Yeah, I know, and that's why you never saw the story at point 3 despite having written something like 20 chapters.

Sure.

I feel really bad for not checking in to read your stories lately, EasyV. =( I need to clear a dedicated spot on my schedule for taking it easy.

As for the poll: I'm not really a fan of shounen manga myself. I am a huge fan of slice of life, but at the end of the day, I think you should write what you enjoy. If you don't, then writing will become a chore, you'll start putting it off and writing less and less... I speak from experience on this one.

Do a CYOA with yukkuri or will do hurt hurt... >_>

I have thought for a while about writing one involving an Anoniyukkuri but never got to it. Uneasy schedules can't take it easy!

I just remembered I had made this thread.
It's funny because I had started writing something, but then I published some more short stories.
Even now I just published one in the group, and it's waiting for Dosu's blessing.
Though I made a huge mistake by mispelling the yukkuri name... don't punish...
