One Yukkuri Place

Is it okay if I created an entirely new yukkuri species that flipped the bird with established canon and rules?

Posted under General

Detailed explanation for the title:
- Currently, I'm "inventing" a new kind of yukkuri - realistic yukkuri - that has plausible biology, physiology and stuffs.
- However, since it's gonna be very realistic, I guarantee there would be a mild level of guro happening!
- Teaser: It's a plant-animal-fungal hybrid.

Stay tuned ;)

*cough* you are several years too late. There were early attempts to do this and they do not catch on because some of the more vocal ones in the fandom are against deviating from the usual tropes that yukkuris are magical and therefore not-really-alive creatures even in the many yuniverses from different authors.

I, personally, want more world building in yukkuri comics and stories. The abuse stories have always bored me because they seem so shallow and generally uncreative.

I'm gonna place my invention on this site, so don't worry about those angry Japanese.

But I have to learn to draw first ;)

But what do you think, @poweryoga senpai?

*cough* it is not just the japanese >_>. If anything the japanese are likely to be indifferent to non-japanese works.

My feelings. The world is a cruel place, but it's not all -that- cruel.

Edit: Let me add more depth to that statement --

All recent stories go pretty much the same way -- look at the shithead yukkuri, now they die to mister mohawk or mohawk-in-training. Yawn.

At least some people used to write stories where it was the human who was the asshole, and the yukkuri who was fairly pleasant. Now they just make them all the same way and use it as an excuse to abyuse/kill them in usually pretty convoluted ways.

Updated

Well I don't really like the premise so here's your first obstacle.
It's nice to discuss it from time to time, but I realized I prefer the nonsensical status quo.
I'd prefer to see more yukkuri vs nature (i.e. no humans involved), if anything.

You'll probably be disappointed, but we've already had this discussion sometime in the past few years. The short version is "no guro, this is a yukkuri site". The strange reasoning of why we don't allow guro? For some reason, a lot of people like yukkuri abyuse but not guro and differentiate quite harshly between the two.

Long version: If by "realistic" you mean organs and blood, we stay away from that altogether. The fine line between yukkuris and guro here is that "yukkuris are pastries", and once they venture beyond that it automatically becomes guro which we don't allow. There's many many other sites for that. (hell, even pixiv has a large guro population) You can even look at fluffies or jissou sites and they are pretty similar.

Yukkuris might be filled with nonsensical stuff but yukkuris, at the end of the day, are magical manjuus in most people's headcanon. Part of why we like them is because they're basically magic manjuus that heal with orange juice, have a fairly established fanon governing them and have no discernible organs. (but filled with delicious pastry fillings)

If you want to get away with it by saying "ok its a pastry filled with organs" so you can do disemboweling and other stuff, I'd rather that stuff stay on guro-related boards honestly. The most we'll allow is for it to be filled with cooked offals, but blood and gore is no-go.

and on that note about yukkuri stories: I've said this before and I'll say it again. Yukkuri stories are best when they're focused on good writing first and abyuse/family_friendly second. It's fine to lean in any one direction but pure family_friendly stories are boring and pure abyuse stories are boring.

Extremely polarized stories are always boring, it's always better when the yukkuris/anons actually have personality and character development. The "deibu" and probably-deserves-to-be-in-jail-anon are too polarized for me and becomes formulatic and boring. I like nature stories the best honestly.

Wouldn't you mind recommend me some?

Also let's not forget that Gensokyou is a place with no common sense, and yukkuri are so much lacking that, that they went from Gensokyou to the human world, instead of the opposite.

I can't remember any, and this speaks volume.
