They are the Touhou Fandom of the West, which sadly explains the fluffies, just with more self agrandizing and Delusional sense of "Maturity" and "World Improving".

Actually that's not the issue, while the whole "JOIN THE HERD DERPA HERPA" is bothersome, my main problem is more about the mistaken sense of "maturity for watching a girls show" and how "we are making the world a better place" many bronies have.
It's more overrating themselves and the show, and how it makes the proper fans look bad.
I like both MLP and Touhou/Yukkuri.
I tend to stay away from most of the MLP fandom stuff though. I just enjoy the show and a handful of fan works that aren't over-the-top creepy.
Also don't gripe SpookyYukkuri, it's not like they sniped this concept specifically from Yukkuri. It was an independent evolution.
Fluffies remind me of why many people look at yukkuri and go "WTF is this shit?", because that's exactly my reaction to fluffies.
I still think that yukkuri are a whole lot less hateful than the fluffy stuff, but I guess that's easy to miss when you only have a passing familarity with the fandom.

Actually, you know what might've been a more likely source of inspiration for Fluffies? Jissousekis.
Is basically the same thing, just with different characters.

I always said it, it's because of yukkuris are foodstuffs that we have many people, incluiding myself, who usually aren't fan of gore but they are fine with yukkuri works.
If Yukkuris started to be made with proper blood and guts, loads of people would abandon ship.
Kinda how people who hate Manhunt have no issues with Naughty Bear yet both are the exact same game.

Lore wise those are made of food stuff as well, gummy, jelly, hard sugar, etc.
Their whole gist is being Golem Foodstuff, so everything is some sort of foodstuff magically made to resemble parts.

Except it still looks a hell of a lot like the stuff that's in people. And comes from things that are portrayed with emotions.
Not knocking abuse here, just pointing out that "oh yukkuri stuff isn't really gore" is a bit of a stretch.
