One Yukkuri Place

Marisa Game Translation Project Reboot

Posted under General

Personally I'm learning HSP, with the idea to somehow understand the code flow and maybe manage to discover what func_1 is meant to do
yukkuri is used only inside libptr, and whatever is returned is then manipulated with poke commands, so it's unclear if it's used at all
If you don't mind, I'm leaving searching through 430+ blogposts written in japanese to you, while I enjoy reading almost 125000 lines of code half of them written in japanese

Separate pictures folder (since it probably won't be updated too much and it's magnitudes bigger than the text file, might as well have a separate download you can come back to)

The only thing I didn't really know how to translate is ぜんそく…… こうっしーんっ……! One funny new feature is if you kill a yu with the family there, they will slowly back away from the corpse and uncontrollably quiver in the corner. The next update apparently implements an abandonment system but I can't read well enough to understand the full details.

Updated

Might as well give an update on the decompiled code:
Apparently, HSP comes with a program which compiles the code written in HSP to code written in C++
It doesn't really help anything, since the C++ code is actually the HSP virtual machine behaviour rather than the original code
What is helpful, though, is that it can be hooked to a debugger like GDB, and by stepping through it maybe we can see what "func_1" is supposed to do
Problem is, out of about 10000 variables (not a made-up number), at least a third of them have names written in japanese, which is something the compilers I have don't really like
So, I'm in the middle of writing a perl script to translate japanese symbols to "jap<number>" where <number> is a number strarting from 1
It'll take a while though...

The last links that GNU/Hurdz posted has a malware anyone else confirm this ?

Yeah I'm actually a hackerman

In all seriousness it's literally just a collection of .txts and .bmps so there's not really any vector for malware to come through. Maybe your AV thinks the host is malicious or maybe it just hates Japanese. In any case, uninstall McAfee/Norton.

Agreed. Symantec, owner of Norton, is infamous for paying people to create viruses and malware. Personally, I use Avast.

Quick update on the decompiled version: I managed to get the compiler to accept the code, but now I'm having issues with libraries and missing functions
I'm probably going to need to get Winders and visual studio somehow, though first I'm going to look for the linux version of the hsp c++ library

New update, new dialogue. This time around though, I'm having a bit more trouble trying to translate what it says. I honestly don't want to upload what I have at the moment in case it might be horrendously wrong. In case somebody else wants to take a crack at it, though, the new lines are the "akirame" (giving up) ones. Stuff like "(name) の とうっとい ぎせいっ は わすれないのぜ". I'm also not sure how to translate もう…… in a way that flows well. From what I've tried, these lines appear if you abyuse a family member in a way that makes them Puff at you for an extended amount of time. For a testing example, if you hold a Yu down to the ground the rest of the family will Puff at you for around 30 seconds before giving up and using the new lines. The lines labeled "catch" I can't seem to activate in any way, though; the lines are stuff like "(Marisa) が うしなわれるっ こちょは せかいっ のそんっしつ なのじぇぇぇ" or "この くじゅっ! (Marisa) を みしゅてりゅなぁぁぁ".

In other news, the dev is planning to finally implement Reimu, and is moving from BMP to PNG. While that's good, it would also probably mean I'll have to redo the images from scratch again. One fun fact he mentioned is that if you keep throwing away intelligent Yukkuri, the intelligence of Yukkuri in the wild will slowly increase.

Reimu is in the game now

Finally!
Though this means we have to translated an infinite number of dialogue lines again

It looks like she's a rough draft right now, she's pretty much a reskin of Marisa (has her hat outline during some animations, moves one braid).

Could someone repost the latest translation file? The Mega one is no longer active.

Download version 1.12, then:

Sorry for being cute late, but it was a long week and I'd willingly sacrifice Yukkuri time over any other time.

Right now the Reimu script is thankfully just a simple copy paste of the Marisa script for the most part (other than changing the name placeholder for the ko to say Reimyu instead of Maricha), but I'm going to dread the day he starts to edit out all the "da je"'s and references to silky golden hair.
Yes, Reimu calls herself Marisa in the overworld in Japanese too, it's a bug on the dev's part.

Thanks for the hard work GNU/Hurdz.
Since I'm new around here I feel weird asking, but is the menu supposed to still be in japanese? Or have I messed up the seemingly simple drag and drop?
