Agreed Tofu is good and very nutritive, sadly zealous vegans types overrate it or try to enforce others to eat it to the point of giving it a bad name or make it be related to the rabid kind of vegans, instead of being put aside and being seen as just another type of food to try.

The pose makes me think of the "Do Not Want" Broccoli Dog macro.

To reuse and paraphrase a quote I've pilfered and used elsewhere: Vegans are by nature negative people. They always assume the worst with people and animals.
tofu tastes like nothing. It's good in a lot of stuff but to hail it like the 2nd coming of jesus like the vegans do is really kind of annoying. Plus its dirt cheap, so I will never pay more than $5 for a tofu dish.

Had you tried the traditional eastern ways of preparing it or only the "trendy new age western" way of eating it? I heard it's not the same eating it in the way Vegans try to force you to and eating it the way the Eastern Asia countries do.

That's the only way I eat it. Tofu itself is eaten not for the flavor (that comes from the sauces and condiments you cook the tofu with) but more for the texture. Even dessert types (tofu curd) is flavored with either ginger syrup or other stuff, depending on where you're from.
I don't know of any "trendy western way" to prepare tofu, am I missing something? :|
Which is why I hate it so; it has some of the highest smug content found in food. There are two basic approaches, it seems:
1) One of food mysticism, that this is a healthy food and so must be eaten to get rid of toxins or bad karma or whatever. This sets up a kind of reactionary "eww" from people who then assume that it couldn't possibly be good. (I know the reference is old as hell, but see Clarissa's mom in Clarissa Explains It All. I don't see this as much anymore. And the reactive eww certainly isn't limited to that, it's all over the place. Particularly any commercial that tries to sell food to parents with the "it tastes so good kids won't know it's good for them!" line. As if kids have an inborn aversion to things that are good for them, instead of cultural conditioning that "enjoyable == bad for you", which is the real culprit.)
2) From the loud, militant variety of vegans, and Lisa Simpson, a kind of "Let's use this to trick the stupid carnivores" thing.
One of my favourite things to do with tofu is mash it, and then add/mix in a chopped spring onion and soy sauce + sesame oil sauce. Great as a dish with oriental meals.
