More than his godly drawing skills and his abuse inventive, the thing I like the most of Kiriraitaa it's that he always puts these panels when yukkuris remember the happy times with their families.

He caters to both sides - that's the secret of his fame.

It's the old "There is no greater sorrow than to recall happiness in times of misery"

Can't tell that you're 100% right, but surely you aren't wrong. Trying to explain in an awful engrish: it's a matter of choice and alternative. If a yukkuri has never been happy (very unlikely but maybe one day I'll try to expand that idea), there's no real happiness to break. But in almost every other case, flashbacks like this one remind our yus and the reader that THERE IS an alternative to violence and sadness, that IT IS a viable alternative and YOU CAN eventually go back there. The kicker? The choice is not up to them anymore~
So, more than a mental shelter or a reminder of happy times I'm talking about a brutal awakening. Doesn't make sense? Too bad: lure is already set, someone is going to elaborate further. First wall-of-text generator prize of 2013 will be mine.
This series is causing an equal amount of anger and enjoyment in me for Reimu's situation. On the one hand I'm feeling quite sorry for her (I think it's the braids as arms is starting break down the uncanny valley barrier for me); on the other the hand Reimu is too grotesque and deserves what's coming to her (that barrier is still up, though).

So true. As someone who enjoys abyuse stories but often (depending on the style, anyway) find yukkuri cute, this Kiri scratches a deep psychological itch for me. Well, I say "itch", others say "problem", whatever.
z-aki and suiso's yukkuris are grotesque. Kiri's yukkuris are the epitome of moe. I don't think he's ever drawn a super shithead face, come to think of it. Just moeblob-shitheads.

Kiri is so damn good at making me feel like Gollum: Yesh, it's good, GOOOOD! Let the reimyu suffer, it's pain and torment sustains me.....; Nooo, leave the yukkuri alone! It hasn't done anything- SILENCE! It feeedsss ussss, It sssussstainssssd ussss!.... NO! YES! NO! YES!
The thing about suiso is that he also does damn cute and moe yukkuris, just not as detailed and developed as Kiri's. Also sometimes Suiso's shitheads are cute, usually for a short time, I always say "once they get a lip, shit hits the fan."
Hell remember "Mysterious Beauty Remyu" she was clearly a scum yu but was averagely cute until her so called "beauty" was proven not being as godly as she thought, then she tantrumed and became disgusting.

I am confused.
Me, I'm just angry. We've got no indications that Reimu is a shithead. Her default reaction to the human was to wonder if he'd take it easy with her. She never apologizes for being so cute or anything; she just wants to know where her family is and why she's being abused.
Anon, on the other hand, seems angry that Reimu doesn't just shut up and take her abuse. He acts just as confused that Reimu is upset as Reimu is that she's being abused. Based on what he says about "a food that pisses you off", it almost sounds as if he's only keeping her alive so she'll be sweeter when he eats her. If he was doing this for a pet Remilia, that'd be acceptable, but we've got no such indication and it's just sort of jarring.
Here's your food.
One grain should be more than enough for something like you, right? Hahah
