You know...I've been thinking about this for a while.
While it's nice that you want to post up hard-edits of the pages as it reminds people of older pictures and series...but wouldn't it just take up server space in the end?
Someone once said it more eloquently than I long ago...
But the existence of hard translated pictures is more likely to expand the english fandom than the annotated pictures, since the hard translated pictures are a self-contained thing, and can be spread around the internet, whereas the annotated pictures are limited to this site only.
That being said, that's not my actual reason for doing the hard translations. I'm going through the database from post 1 and saving them to my hard drive. I can't read japanese, and the japanese pictures are no good to me, so wherever there exists a picture with a soft translation, I'm making a hard translated version. And I figure as long as I'm generating them, why not post them to OYP in the above interest as well?
I like hard translated copies. When you save pictures the notes aren't there and you lose the translation in the process. And to be honest, 100k here or there doesn't matter much.
Dosu, there's a scum who want to hog all the server~~
Personally, I like annotated pictures more because it can easily be revised. Especially true for texts where the translations can still use much improvements
I think the notes are pretty handy for the translation of the longer stories who are loaded with text wich is important in understanding the whole story. with pictures like this, i think one or two spelling mistakes aren't that bad.
