So, the guy came up with a goddamn difficult badge qualification test for gold and platinum (platinum requires ditching the hard-earned gold badge), and the sole Reimu that passed all of this was killed and made into takoyaki?
Well, ever since the beginning the test was evaluated because of its abuse value (check the last page), but this is still a goddamn waste. Anon could've reaped mounds upon mounds of money from this Reimu at an auction, and he simply decided to make it into food?

Looking at the series as a whole, I got the impression that this guy's not looking for piles of money, but rather for general wellbeing, his and his yukkuri's. He most definitely does not need the money, since he trains yukkuri and works at a Yuuka farm, and he had the privilege of sharing the taste of a rare platinum badge yukkuri with a friend.

Well look at it this way If he wants mounds of money, he can always sell those couple of dozen gold badges created in the process. On the other hand this is probably the only opportunity he'll ever have in his life to eat a platinum badge reimu.
Besides, as EasyV said he's probably not looking for money. Think about it, if he really wants money, why would he try to make a bunch of reimus, marisas, patchys, and alices a plat badge? If he really wants money he'd try to make rare yus like Sanaes and Myons into platinum badges instead of those common trash.
As a side note, are those really rare yukkuri? Youmu/Myon (however you want to call her) has become fairly common nowadays. About Sanae, honestly I'd put her in the "uncommon" class. There are rarer yukkuri, and I don't want to grasp at straws making "subclasses" (rare, super rare, ultimate rare...)
Eating it over badge status still seems kind of pointless since the taste doesn't scale with the badge level. It would be interesting if badge was an indicator of the taste quality though.

I use Common, Uncommon, and Rare. I don't make distinctions within category.
Youmu, Alice, Patchy, Marisa, Reimu, and Chen are common.
Sanae, Aya (she used to be a lot more prevalent), Yuuka, Reisen, and Nitori are uncommon.
Right now, I would consider them Uncommon, but nearing Common. Remilia seemed to be a bit more common in the past, but quite a bit of that was bodied form. Now, they're getting a bit more face time-especially Flan.
Only one get platinum badge but many fried balls on the dish? Definitely gold badges were made into food. My point of view never changes - badge system is the way to milk money, it's shit anyway. Why? 1. Material art training - most of pet yu don't do self exercise after getting purchased. They will forget it quickly. 2. The urge of having children can be suspended but after taking it easy enough in owner home, that fucking urge returns. In fact, castrate them is the only choice. 2.2 The paste selective is the second choice. Nicehead with serious core modification. The core of this problem is: - little one is happiness> owner happiness. They will breed little one and turn into scums as long as they can't put the easiness of owner above everything they want.

You know what they are called gold and platinum badged Yu's right? Fake badges or lower level like bronze have minimal training and their animalistic and savage behavior still active
Meanwhile trained Yu's are intelligent and understand reality Soo they don't get trapped into the more babies more easyness fallacy
If you don't want that thing you need to give your yukkuri sex education
Its pretty funny how people keep saying "he should sell Platinums and make a ton of money!" when that was never the point of the story.
The point of the story is that yukkuri training is an oxymoron. Abuse is the only form of training that will work, but since you can abuse yukkuri to do anything you want; a very very abused Platinum badge is no different from a very very abused Bronze.
