In your memory, have the koyukkuries that born from stalk been always in the sleep mode, or initially conscious in the early days of Yukkuriverse? (like in the "Burning Stalk" story by Kiriraitaa)

Sleep Mode unless something disturbs them, then they have some basic face expressions, obviously a way to potentially warn a distracted parent that the still borns are in distress.

From everything I've read, sleep mode. Waking them doesn't do anything, but under certain circumstances, kill them.

Some other comics also had the yukkuri on the stalk be "never born" by gluing them to the stalk, so they would never wake up and then die.

I don't get the "biology" behind this.

Basically by gluing them into the stalk it made sure that when they would be born they wouldn't drop, the problem comes from the fact they wouldn't be able to both fully leave the birth sleep mode and properly feeding since at that point, usually the mother yu stops feeding them via stalk.

So the uneasiness from that situation and starvation kills them.

Of course the glue kinda helps in the whole closing up the feeding.

Something for sure if no glue is used or anything similar, there still can be examples of yu's still on the stalk that somehow can "semi birth" and have this weird symbiotic/parasitic relationship with their parent, but it's super strange...maybe the yu somehow cheating whatever trigger the "no more feeding"?
