He has zero adherence to any previous depictions and he does not even hide it.
How in the bloody hell can this nitori survive with a filling made of soft cooked rice? Why did it not outright die after having the core remove? Why was it not brain damaged when its paste core was taken out? Why is the paste core a sliced cucumber? Why is 9th trying to be different so badly?

Indeed. Let alone removing the core, exposing it to open air should have drived the yukkuri mad.

It pretty much looks like a recreation of those heart rip-out scenes from the low budget martial arts flicks. The victim always lives long enough to observe and understand what is happening to them.

You mean those hilarious Hong Kong movies? Ah, the good old days.

Yes, but the core is also the brain ? So the nitro can't really observe it anyways
The character "Nitori" from Tohou Project, which this 'Yukkuri Nitori' is originated from, is a "Kappa". Kappa is a Japanese monster which is believed to live in the river or lake, like Kelpie in Scottish folks. Kappa is believed to kill the children who swim alone, by pulling out "Shirikodama" (Shiri = Butt, Tama = Marble, ball) through their anus. The picture in Pun Master's link is based on that. (Nitori in that picture is saying "I'll give you Shirikodama!") It is told that story of Kappa was made up to make children be afraid of deep water like river and lake and I think it pretty makes sense. And it is told that Kappa's favorite food is cucumber and that's why Japanese call a cucumber roll "Kappamaki". Oh and you'll see that Yukkuri Nitori is crying 'Kappa' in previous page.
What nitori paste core is cucumber and her meat is rice
