You have a lot to learn when it comes to yukkuri misery. What fun is it to hurt a yukkuri only to have it forget 2 seconds later? It's no fun at all. The misery has to last. You have to affect their lives and make them spiral into loneliness and misery and insanity, not have them forget right away.
^Short memories were one of the first traits yukkuri ever had. The idea of long-term trauma was briefly played with by DOS fuckages ago, but it then quickly faded back into the 5-second memories we see commonly today. I mean, if they always remembered the entirety of their miserable, pain-filled lives, they couldn't very well take it easy, could they? They'd probably all sit around in a sulk begging passersby to kill them, which would probably stop being fun.
