The general problem of necroing is bumping down new stuff out of 1 liners or trying to answer discussions long terminated. Besides commenting isn't "contributing", helping with tags, proposing new tags, asking if a tag is good or not, translating, scanlating and similar activities, now that's contributing.
And like maximus said, we have a post without bumping button now, why not use it for such cases? The only thing worth necroing are old works which were translated or note translated which give such work a new fresh air to start over and maybe explain stuff we didn't know because of the language barrier.

Because it's better to post on newer more fresh stuff than posting in old stuff long discussed and terminated? specially if you do it constantly instead of 1 token necro every 10 or more newer works comments?
Besides, people only complain of the necro when it's notoriously constant and continous, basically when it's really bumping down newer and more fresh stuff. Nobody seem to complain when it's 1 single necro while being active on newer stuff and bumping that newer stuff.
I don't really mind the necroing tbh. Some new guys can find something they really like and want to post about it. Not always a bad thing... but when its done constantly it does get annoying. But such is the internets so lets keep an open mind about it. If its just a troll post then let me know and I'll delete. Responding to the necro makes it hard to go through and determine whether its a valid bump or just trolling.
Kinda why I said once or twice between comments is fine but already reaching 10 in a constant row while bumping down all the newer and fresher discussion, it gets troublesome, specially if it isn't something like "well this old comic got updated with notes and translation time to comment about it!".

It's clearly just another overenthusiastic newcomer to OYP though. We get those once every other week.

Still. You can ignore the older discussions if you don't feel like it brings up anything new. If a new person comes here and finds something interesting the last thing I want to do is say "HEY YOU CAN'T COMMENT ON THINGS!" Of course, we'll keep an eyes to make sure he's not just spamming.

normally I wouldn't agree with maximusfive but you seem to be necro bumping alot, I don't mind if you do it like once a day or so but this is starting to get ridiculas
I did ignore it, if anything I was commenting on Maximus's and Starshine's discussion about necroing (while making sure to not bump by using the PWB button).
Yeah the irony, the discussion about necroing maybe more interesting than the necrobump itself.
I agree with JIE's take on it, it's not too bad once or twice but a lot of times starts to bury newer discussion, especially when reviving old arguments that everyone's already done with and moved on from...
