One Yukkuri Place

Any Yukkuri Eiki stories?

There was one anko I recall where an anon had a bodied shikieiki. She was simultaneously judging yukkuri that were getting badges while she was testing for a platinum badge, herself.

cute! I love yukkuri eiki.

That is rather cute I'll admit, although they're ideas for platinums are for some reason troubling to me. Platinums are still pets, albeit very good and smart ones. I guess I just like the idea of a yukkuri reaching the pinnacle of its kind and evolving into a full human or youkai. They're magic pastries. Makes sense to me they'd be able to evolve above that.

It's a cool idea, but it always felt like a cop-out to me. My yukkuri stay yukkuri, mostly because it's a major plot point in one of my stories.

I do think platinum badges should still be pets - I doubt many humans would ever consider yukkuri anything more than that - but I also think they should have some privileges to set them apart from gold.

(I had a big fat wall about my headcanon for platinums, but I figured it was offtopic.)

I agree. Some yukkuri (like the Marisa in the anko) simply don't want to repudiate their race at the expense of status. Someone here wrote that a yukkuri that aspires to be more human-like grow bodies, and those that want to be exceptional yukkuri become dosus (assuming they live long enough). And that ties in perfectly with the story and canon-Marisa is a hardheaded girl and explains why almost all dosus are Marisa. Whatever they do, they want it on their terms.

Yuukas are one of the most common bodied types, and I believe it's because they are so closely aligned with human interests and values. So, I couldn't imagine a Yuuka wanting to become a dosu.

Baron, if you want to start a new thread about Platinum badges and candidates, I'd be interested to read your thoughts. From the other thread about bodied yus a while back, I think we probably were ~85% agreement.
