One Yukkuri Place

What's the community's take on guro?

Posted under General

Not the shock for shock's sake kind but the type of gore you'd expect on battles like humans losing their limbs and fingers and whatever? Animals getting eaten?

I am asking because one of my story is actually written in such a way that there will be human deaths and injuries involved. I promise to keep it tasteful but I am concerned it may start a precedent that unsettling material gets uploaded here in the future.

Can I depict moderately gory scenes or should I censor the disturbing parts so it becomes more acceptable?

If you explicitly include the "guro" tag, the system automatically hides it as a predefined setting
Users can disable it in their accounts
There are some guro pics already, by the way

It is true that few pics here combined guro and yukkuri. However, guro has since been disallowed as far as I know.

I know there already was gore in the past but the old comments show many people disapproving of it considering they were the tasteless "let's draw yukkuri with real organs bit" in the cruelest manner of dismemberment which is unnerving really but what I want is to depict scenes of carnage because war/accident/predation and the like with humans or animals.

Since I am a poor artist if ever I draw guts spilling out or the like it would be pretty awfully depicted so I sort of figure it wont mentally scar the viewer and the effect would just be that of bad art depicting a what would have been unsettling scene in a way that unless you are exceptionally sensitive to such material as a meh sort of moment that you expect in bad horror movies and the like.

I wont insist in depicting gory scenes if I am not allowed and will try a work around with perhaps dialog or silhouettes or plain censor blurring the disturbing parts.

There's a few guro pictures, but people took that as an opportunity to post just guro with random yukkuris in it because "omg it has a yukkuri", similar to hentai with yukkuri overlays. And it's weird coming from a yukkuri site with lots of abuse, but we have a lot of people here that don't actually like guro. As a personal preference I don't like guro (and don't like jissous/fluffies either).

Disregarding the fact that 90% of stories involving guro or massacring of humans are troll-ey in nature, even if you have a story where humans are preyed upon by yukkuris, I don't believe there needs to be guro to tell the story. Human suffering is easily portrayed without gratuitous violence, and you can ask yourself one quick question before deciding if guro is needed:

"does it improve my story?"

As a general rule, guro is not needed (and doesn't add much to a yukkuri story) and therefor disallowed. Even war stories are better told from a desperate struggle perspective instead of "bodies everywhere". Text stories featuring some guro are allowed though.

Thanks. I will bear that in mind.
