Blacklisting comments?

Posted under General

Is there a possibility to blacklist comments by username, similar the one with tags?

The profile settings don't have anything, it seems.
Guess the only solution for now is to set the comment threshold at some relatively high value and downvote comments until they are hidden because under the threshold.

I believe you can choose to exclude by tag, but you can't "blacklist" comments.

So would it be possible to use a tag like "username:comment"? Because that is the main problem.

Edit: Having the possibility of downvoting more than 10 comments in an hour would also be quite nice.

So you want to purposely downvote comments you do not like and inadvertently/purposely cause retaliatory negative action and kill off the community by providing a less inconvenient way for people to start trolling or harassing each other by downvoting comments of people they do not like regardless if it is a shitpost or whatnot?

A user account only blacklist would be fine but that downvoting suggestion is a very bad idea, I am sorry to say. That same system is what is killing off most online communities (not just yukkuri) and turning them into circle jerking forums of their respective type of fandom.

Other websites and discussion boards have an "ignore" feature that lets you build a list of users to ignore. That usually works better than downvote brigading someone into oblivion, but it's not a function that seems possible with Danbooru. It could be coded in, but my days of tinkering with PHP and MySQL databases are way behind me and I wouldn't ask the admins to do anything that 1)I couldn't pay for and 2)would break the site in hilari...ahem...horrible ways.

Can't wait to get shadow banned. :D

Truth be told, I wouldn't mind if a certain members dialed it down a notch in the comments.

im sorry i didn't me to over do it.

ignore's not happening, if only because we're not doing any sort of development and anything that's not a feature already isn't going to get implemented.

And I can't say I condone creating sock-puppets to purposely downvote people you don't like. That falls into the "play nice with other members" rule. It's ok to not like someone, but quite frankly the less time I have to spend babysitting people the better.

It's not like the downvotes actually do anything, so it's more or less an exercise in futility.

It makes the one being downvoted wonder the motivation of the downvoter and causes a lot of distrust and increases tension in those communities (just look at reddit)

reddit actually handles downvotes well, so that's not a good example. It does tend to breed a hivemind mentality and exclude fringe opinions, which depending on your views it may or may not be a good thing.

Anyway that's a moot point here seeing as downvotes don't exactly do anything here. (prettttty sure it's broken)

It hides comments and greys out comments even if you view all the comments in a post that you will sometimes not be able to read them as well as you ought to (it could just be me, though).

Agreed. Btw, I'm too lazy to make 10/20/30+ accounts, because I only need one.
I've spent enough time here to know who is ok, and who is a retard. And it would be great to have some way of blacklisting the retards.

I don't mind the occasional text wall battle in the comments. It can even be pretty entertaining as long as the discourse is constructive.

We just ask people to be adults and ignore people you don't like. Quite frankly implementing features is impossible and I have neither the interest nor time to dive into web dev + server work.
