Not sure if something isn't working on the new versions of that very executable or what, but the one that came with 1.71 just got errors

If possible, can you show us the errors?

The problem is that, while I can run the game and all, I don't have japanese fonts so it's gibberish on the files and on the error message.

The only thing legible is "#Error 31"

Sorry if that isn't helpful.

Maybe that's the problem in itself.
Try installing something like Unifont or Noto CJK.
Do you run the text updater in the japanese locale?

The error is a result of missing text headers in the older files. I ran into that same error when I was translating 1.58 due to the creator changing the numbering of a few lines that I copied over.

It does make sense when you consider my half assed solution lead to the "new lines" being erased and left blank, because the older exe updater doesn't consider them at all, so it probably erases them during update.

Could someone please Reupload the latest English script by 'TakeItSlow' for 1.46 ?
Thanks a lot for the translation.

I accidentally deleted the source I was using for this that made it easy to see what changed between each version and which lines I needed to update, which is why I stopped posting updates and why I didn't re-upload. Glad to see that the work has continued.

talking about posting new links, maybe we could get a new link for the image translation one?
for some reason pomf kicks in my anti virus blocking so yeah, I would rather not risk it.

Oh wow I managed to play 1.74 and... what's with the shop and the yukkuri goddess!?
There's a lot of stuff.

the yukkuri goddess!?

The shop has been around since a few versions ago, pretty much when they changed the overworld map, I suppose it's how you get healthy pets that have harder chances of getting mold, since usually any stray I pick up, no matter how poo poo trained it is, or how much I clean them, they get moldy, while the pet shop yu's don't unless you proactively make them be dirty and stuff.

Now the yukkuri goddess thing is something I hadn't heard about, does it do anything?

I reuploaded my 1.58 translation while the site was down, then I realized 1.58 isn't even available for download anymore. I'm currently working on a 1.74 compatible translation. There's a lot of copying and pasting involved, so it will likely be a little while before I can upload it.

She supposedly cures mold (haven't tried myself) and generally acts like a spoiled child.
If you want her lines translated here you are: https://my.mixtape.moe/azpkhh.zip

Hey guys, I've just come out of my home under a rock again, which is v1.62 or v1.63. Any new or changed features?

The map got changed to look like a pokemonesque map, mold is a thing now and strays seems to catch it super easily no matter how much you clean them and treat them well, there is a yukkuri shop to get proper pet yu's for the prize of fun (really they don't charge anything) a few more interactions and lines and that's pretty much it.

Now on ver 1.74 (which is the latest) we got this yukkuri goddess (some MMD assest animu chick with big measures) that seems to be able to cure mold magically, though to do that you must nab your yukkuri (as in put it on the egg package thingy) and bring them to her.

Now if only Yukkuri Diary also got updated ;-;

Just for information, I've been reading the dialogue file of 1.74 and I'm fairly certain some lines have been changed since 1.58, so Darksnow13's translation might be wrong by just copypasting.

Well the program for updating the dialogues will throw a error if you try to use them regardless, so yeah, unless you mean literally copy paste the text inside.

The thing is, because of the constant updating nature of the game, it became hard for translators to keep up, add the potential burn down the west community is having lately and that makes getting anything newer than the 1.58 translation a bit more troublesome.

I thought that's what he's trying to do.

Well, in theory, it's 100% possible to create a workflow that would allow a translator to keep up with the updates. There are two problems however:

  • Actually completing the translation so that we can update only what has changed
  • Shift JIS

The first is a bit of a circular problem, but it was done once, we can do it again.
The second is the real trouble. Shift JIS sucks big time and properly-written tools made the right choice to drop it entirely.
As such, finding what has changed from one version to another is made unnecessarily difficult.
Alas, since the japanese version of Windows uses Shift JIS, we're stumped.

And just as I posted that, I discovered 1.75 is out.
A quick examination suggests that there aren't any changes in the dialogues (I looked at the changelog).

Updated

Alright guys I made a set of utilities in Python 2 to maybe help keep this game translated.

Link: https://mega.nz/#F!o11GmCjI!5cppavS1agIkQnHOjxNFUg

Explanations:
*translator-put this and translations in the game folder and run it. It's a glorified find and replace script with translations.txt as a basis.
*translations.txt- format is "original":"translation". I did the first 100 lines as an example but the translation is probably subpar, and I don't know how to slur.
*text finder- put this in the game folder and run it.finds all the text enclosed in double quotes ("text") and outputs it to an output.txt file. duplicates are omitted.
*change finder- compares an output2.txt(rename an old output file into this) and an output.txt and spits out the difference. useful for finding newly added lines

The exe folder is there if you don't want to install python, though I'm not sure if they work. Scripts only touch the Hanyou, Reimu, and Marisa folders so the new NPCs aren't included. These should be usable every update unless the creator messes with the file structure of the text folder, so updating translations.txt should be enough. btw there are around 4500(!!!) unique lines of dialogue.
