Yukkuri Roleplay - IC

In a small patch of wood, amidst green hills, where humans are rarely seen, there lived a special yukkuri tribe ruled over by wise chief, a Patchouli as large as a man.
The yukkuri living there only called her 'Dosu', a name derived from the sound she made when she moved amonst them.
This giant yukkuri had watched over the tribe for many generations and as far as the yukkuri, whose lifespans are comparable to those of rabbits, were concerned, Dosu had always been there and would still be there when it was time for them to join their ancestors.
However, one day late in autumn, Dosu suddenly fell gravely ill. Neither the most knowledgable herbalists or the most powerful healers were able to determine the cause for Dosu's illness.
Dosu fought her illness for several weeks, but to no avail; on a cold and snowy night in the dead of winter, Dosu finally took it easy forever.
According to her last wish, the leader of the Warren Watch, an Alice, became the new chief and her body was taken apart to feed the tribe, for Dosu did not want to return to the earth, but stay with her tribe even in death.
Her order for the tribe to consume her body was not for purely sentimental reasons, though. Even before Dosu fell ill, the tribe had already been through a rough year, as food had become increasingly scarce, something that had already been a problem for a few years, but that only now had become apparent even to the ordinary yukkuri, as the guidance of Dosu and her council had prevented any food shortages until the last year.
Worse yet, the most daring scouts of the tribe had brought shocking news: Mister Human was expanding his territory again and they spotted humans, human den's and other human things where previously no trace of humans could be seen far and wide.
These are troubling times for the tribe and no one knows what the future will bring.

So when the snow melted and spring finally came, the Council came up with a plan to secure the future of the tribe ...

The first rays of sunlight shine down on you, as the five of you come out from your burrows into the cool morning air.
You can already see other yukkuri have left the warrens to munch some dewy grass.
As you are about to go through your usual morning routine, each of you is approached by a young Marisa that is energetically bouncing and leaping across field despite the early morning hours.
She's a junior member of the Scouts and brings a message from the Council – you are to meet with the Elders at the 'Council Hall' once you are finished with your morning munch-munch.

"Chen gets it! Chen will go see the Elders!"

*Kittybread Chen inches her way across the grass, nibbling*

"Yu... Mister Grass isn't very tasty... Chen wishes there was something better to eat..."

"Understood easy! Satori will go see the Council after mister munch-munch"

Cupcake Satori hurried to find some food, but there was only moist grass near her nest.

"Yu... Mister grass will have to do for now..."

'Pudding' Sakuya flaps her braid to cover her eyes from the sun and then goes for the lunch like her friends.
"Munch... munch... Mister Grass isn't very tasty, that's easy, but... maybe, maybe Mister Grass is sleepy because of the winter!
Maybe if we let Mister Grass take it easy he will help us!"

Still a little dozy, Sakuya trembles a little for the cold breeze, remembering when she used to sleep near the old, caring Dosu.
"Yu... Sakuya misses Dosu..."

'Pudding' Sakuya takes a little of grass and locks it on her accessory so that Alice can eat togheter with everyone, as soon as they meet her.

okay, don't do hurt hurt

"Darkness!" The yukkuri Riku replied, having ceased practicing with his mister Soul Eater to listen to the scout's instructions. "Riku will head to Mister Council's mister hall now!"

Yu-Riku always woke up at first light so as to eat and then get in as much practice with his mister soul eater (aka his sword) on a mister stump before his daily work as one of the clan's best warriors. His father, a Youmu, had always told him that the best warriors were the most disiplined and the least lazy. That was something he took to heart-err, paste core.

Yu-Riku headed out towards Mister Council hall, passing 'Kittybread' Chen along the way brushing his spiky mister hair on her tongue as he did so. He and Chen had been childhood friends and for some reason this chen had a strange interest in touching every-yu's tongue so he liked to tease her on occasion by reversing it sometimes.

He went on and entered the hall to await further instruction.

'Droplet' Kogasa quickly ate her helping of mister grass, hoping that it would get easier once mister summer arrived. She quickly took stock of her collection of mister plants, both the easy ones and the uneasy ones. Lastly, she picked up mister umbrella and wandered off to see Alice.

She wondered what Alice wanted with her...

After you finished your munch-munch, you head for the 'Council Hall'.
The Hall is actually a big, hollowed out tree near Dosu's cave, where the elders will often meet and tribe member can talk to them about concerns or requests they have.
A snoring Meiling is sitting besides the entrance, although it is well known that she will always snap wide awake if anything should require her intervention.
She doesn't stir as you crawl past her inside the tree.

Inside, you find the three most important members of the elder council:
The Seeress of the tribe, an older Patchouli who has gone mostly blind with age.
'Merry' Reisen, the captain of the Scouts, whose everlasting smile becomes a little wider when she sees Kittybread.
And finally, the new chief of the tribe, Boss Alice, formerly 'Mayflower', but no one calls her by that name anymore.

As you step and greet your elders, you notice that they do not appear to be taking it very easy:
The gentle smile on the face of the Seeress seems a little forced, and Boss Alice looks worn out and tired, like she hasn't been sleeping enough lately. Only Reisen appears to be unaffected by what is troubling the other two, but it's possible she just has an impressive poker face.

„Yu, take it easy, young ones. How very citysect of you to come so quickly.“ says Boss Alice.
„You … probably already know that the tribe is in trouble. It was already bad last year, but ever since Dosu took the Big Easy, it's looking even worse.“ she explains, obviously having some difficulty maintaining her composure.
„I will be honest: If we don't do something soon, the tribe won't have enough munch-munch for everyone and many good yukkuri will starve. And with Mister Human coming closer every summer, we might not be able to stay here at all. So, me and the Council“ she looks over to the other two Elders, as if seeking assurance, who both nod in response „have decided that we need to find a new easy place for the tribe – and that's were the lot of you come in (OOC: Strange phrasing, but remember that these yukkuri can't count beyound four, so rather than „the five of you“ she said „the lot of you“).“
„Gera, that's right.“ says Reisen in an energetic tone „you are the best and easiest among many easy young ones in the tribe.“ she addresses you in turn „the fastest scout, the strongest fighter, the easiest healer, the wisest herbalist and the most powerful seer.“
„Mukyu, I clearly saw it in my visions, there's easy aura around all of you. I'm sure you can do it.“ the Seeress adds in her usual grandmotherly tone.
„Yes, and so I want you all to set out and find a new easy place for the tribe – where there is plenty of munch-munch and we will be safe from Mister Human.“ finishes Boss Alice.
„I know, it's a big responsibility and it's going to be mating season soon, you were probably thinking about finding a city-sect yukkuri and having little ones“ she trails off „but tribe needs your help and I beg of you to go on this quest.“ she bows to you and the other two follow the example of their leader.
„You have until tomorrow to prepare and bid farewell to your families and friends.“

She looks at you to see if you have anything to add.

Kittybread Chen sways from side to side energetically, eager to set off.

"Chen gets it~ Chen will go look easy! The new easy place can't hide from Chen!"

"Hm..." 'Droplet' Kogasa takes a moment to think. "Do Alice, Reisen, and Patchouli know about places near the current easy place?"

Kogasa paused and then continued "Finding easy place without mister directions is uneasy..."

"Yuu .." Boss Alice looks down dejectedly before answering
"I know this is a big responsibility that can't take it easy at all, but if we knew of any easy places the tribe could settle, we wouldn't have to send someone out.
We don't know much about what is more than 2 days march away."
"There's nothing within that range or my scouts would've found it, gera." adds Reisen.
"We know there are Mister Mountains a few days to the north, and Mister Human is settling down to the west, so you should go either go east or south.
Mostly forest to the east and hills to the south, there could be an easy place for the tribe in either direction."
"There are a couple of friendly clans in both directions, Chen could probably show you the way." says Boss Alice
"Of course! She's my best scout, she knows the way!" Reisen proudly proclaims.

Sakuya gives her share of grass to the elders, and all munch it easy, despite not being really tasty.

Chen is wiggling her tail so energetically that it's almost scary!
"Yuwa... Please Chen, don't be scary!" *tremble*

After Boss Alice answers to Kogasa, 'pudding' Sakuya takes a while to reflect, and then she speaks:

"Yuuu... south... hills... Mister Hills are almost like yukkuris so... YU! Dosu, dosu!
Sakuya knows it!
It's east that we must go, it's east!
Towards east there's the forest, where you can find all sort of easy trees and flowers and plants! Many Mister Bugs fly or crawl around, and many tasty raspberries might be nearby!
Mister Forest will protect us from any uneasy Mister, for the trees will be a good place to hide!
Unlike the hills, where everything is barren and uneasy!
Please, Dosu, listen to Sakuya!
Please, Chen!"

Sakuya looks around in search of approval, her cheeks a little red because of the long speech, hoping no one will judge her bad...

Boss Alice laughs a little
"Yu, Alice is no Dosu, although I wish I was ..."
She puts on a more serious face again
"But Sakuya is right, Mister Forest can take it very easy, but there are probably already many clans in the forests nearby, so I'm afraid you will still have go far to find a new easy place for the tribe.
Remember young ones, we are a big tribe - lots of families, lots and lots of yukkuri."
"Gera, we need a biiiig easy place, with enough drink-drink and munch-munch to feed the tribe. Haven't heard of any easy places like that, gera." adds Reisen.

Satori, who was deep in thought before being startled by Sakuya's enthusiastic speech nodded in agreement with Boss Alice.

"Yu, Satori thinks there could be an easy please past Mister Hills."
"Even if it's far... The clan can travel faster without so many mister trees and mister bushes getting in the way."

SUDDENLY ANON

*Chen scratches under her hat with one of her tails for a moment*

"Yu, Chen thinks the new easy place might be hiding in Mister Forest. There's lots of places to hide in Mister Forest. Lots of Mister Trees and Mister Shrubs. Mister Hills don't have many trees so it's harder to hide there, and Chen thinks if the new easy place were in Mister Hills the scouts would have found it already!"

(Looking at Chen) "Darkness! Does Chen not remember just yesterday complaining about there being nothing but grass in Mister Hills? About how Chen barely escaped Mister buzzard there? (Looks to Sakuya and then to Boss Alice)
Riku agrees with Sakuya. We should explore Mister Forest! As the clan's top warrior, Riku knows that unlike Mister Hills, Mister Forest would be easier to defend from attacks by other clans." (Glances back to Chen)
"It would also have more places to hide from Mister buzzard. Riku votes to go to Mister Forest!"

*Chen gives Riku a puzzled look*

Chen doesn't remember any of that! Riku shouldn't say things that Chen doesn't get!
