Chansketches

Posted under General

I was thinking about making one giant pool for the chansketches that were obviously multi-picture series but lacked artist tags. I figured it was better than pooling each one in its own pool due to the lack of artist tags.

Any objections? Suggestions? Support? Don't care?

That would make the much more efficient chansketch tag redundant.

Except we have a pool for anko stories. Kinda makes the much more efficient anko tags redundant doesn't it? We also already have 17 chansketch pools ranging from 4-76 pictures each.

Double standards much?

the problem with anko stuff is that we create a new tag for every dtory. I think it would be better if we tag "anko story" insted of "anko xxxx"

I think it's better to have a pool for each series, and to make new artist tags as needed.
We can group posts that belong to some unnamed artist under a temporal tag like artist___unknown_## (or something more descriptive and easy to remember like artist___derp_guy) and do a mass-edit when/if we get a better name.
And the anko pool really is redundant. We can get better results if we search for anko*.

The problem with that is that the uploader is pretty much the only one who can keep track of who's who. And uploaders do enough as it is uploading what they can without having to deal with a "artist___unknown_##" tagging system.

Pools are a weird animal. For most things (series, chan sketch, artists, anko), good tagging works pretty much just as well if not better. Really, the only advantage of the pools are for ordering stuff or separating out the translated and not translated things in the story. They're also a nice "emergency" series collector, since some stories don't have proper titles, and tagging would be guess work. By pooling them, the title can be changed later without having to retag individual posts.

Anko really should keep the anko## tags. Searches using anko* allow for mass search and the individual numbers are really useful when trying to find anko stories to read/translate. While the pool is definitely redundant, I've noticed that quite a few people aren't familiar with performing searches to the full potential.

I'm not saying that the uploaders should remember all the artist tags, that can be left to the users that follow those artist from here.

I don't think you even know what "double standards" mean.

Pretty much this. Tags are useful and handy in a pinch, something that pools for all their neatness in organizing series in order, just can't compare.

Anko's get the "anko####" tag and pool. Chansketch stories get the "chansketch" tag and thats enough? Thats a double standard.

You assume that it's the same person who made the pools for the anko stories so no, there's no double standard there. The tags came first and then the pools, so I have no idea what you're raging about.

When I started the anko and illustration tags, it was like this: illustration shows it's an illustration for a damn story. AnkoXXXX identifies whatever story it is (shock horror, sometimes a story might get several illustrations and someone might want to find them!). Don't use pools as an excuse to get rid of tags. They're two different things and have different purposes, albeit some overlap.
