OYP Minecraft

Posted under General

Ok, as seen in the 'What games are you folks playing?' thread, I've decided to create an OYP minecraft server.

The server is running the Yogscast Complete Pack modpack, via the AT launcher. The version is 2.9.3.1-RR-YOGS. When installing, click the "Select Recommended" button to add the extra mods used.

Server address is: minecraft.yunyah.com:25911
It is a whitelisted server, so post here or message me your username.

This is very experimental, and not at all guaranteed to become a permanent thing. This is the first time I've ever admined a minecraft server, so don't expect perfection.

Edited: Ok, I misread the configration. Mystcraft and Logistic Pipes are not enabled, so you don't need those mods (as they won't be available). I could enable them, but probably won't.

Updated

Well, I don't know if I'll ever play, but I suppose I'd like the option to be open. My MC name is the same as my Username here, add me please. ^^

I'll check it out, I don't play minecraft often so don't expect me to be on too much

think my username is MrWeezee or something

I never minecrafted out of fear of what it may do to me and my free time...

Dosu is wise.

No mystcraft, no morph? QQ
(I can live without mystcraft, but Morph is really nice, can you please consider adding it?)

Edit: Those of you who play, be aware that opening the quest book thing you start with may crash your client, it certainly does on mine.

Updated

Hmm.. HQM didn't crash mine, but since I don't plan on using it, and it's not enabled on the server, I guess I should see about disabling its giving to new players..

Mystcraft tends to spawn lots of dimensions, so I'm not really sure it's a good idea to add it; the server already 10-15 dimensions.

Morph wasn't in the "recommended" package, and I didn't think to add it. It's not like I'm against it, but I think adding it means that everyone who connects has to have it, and I don't know if I want to make people already playing add it. But if people want me to add it, I'll do it.

so, does anyone else still play on the server? if not, then before you close it down, can I get a copy of the world file, so I can play it in singleplayer?

I play on it, my sister plays on it. Don't worry, if I decide to shut it down I'll make the world available.

I decided to dust off the good ole' Minecraft. Whitelist me, username is: spectralmerc (I know, I know).

Getting a bit lonely, What times do you guys even play, anyways? Haven't seen anyone on lately T-T

I can't play because this mod pack runs really, really slowly.

I would if it was just a vanilla server. Or if my PC wasn't so sucky.

I usually play at nights, but I agree with gay-pants. The mod takes longer to load than friggin' Natural Selection 2 (which has legendary load times) and I keep dying from things out of nowhere I can't defend from. I really applaud your decision to mount a server, but I think it would do wonders going back to Vanilla.

The enormous modpack is keeping me away too. =(

If it were Vanilla, or a small selection of 'must-have' mods that OYP denizens actually want, it might get more attention.

I understand, but to be perfectly honest, I kinda looking for an excuse to get a server anyway; OYP just pushed me over that edge. That being the case, I wanted to get a YCP server, and that's what I got. If someone wants to set up a vanilla server, I can recommend the hosting service (Stickypiston) they've been pretty good so far, but I'm not going to do it.

Eh you really don't need a server hosting company if you're on a decent fiber line with a semi-modern desktop. Minecraft just isnt all that intensive, even with huge modpacks like this. Its really just a question of RAM, and the majority of desktops and laptops clock in between 8-16 gigs, so its more or less a non issue. I used to run a couple sizable FTB servers off my desktop, no reason to run up a bill for the privilege though.
