So here's the lowdown I've managed to pull the code from the Maricha game (Ver a0.88 to be precise). From there I pulled the text strings for what she says and I figure the community is all for translating this game so here it is.

now once there you gonna see a lot of lines (around 1650) like this:

var_3061 = "まりちゃ"

now how I need that line translated is like this:

var_3061 = "Maricha"

Note please do not edit anything outside the quotation marks and do not remove the "var_XXXX =" or "+ var_XXXX +"

Also you'll note that the text is divided in to three sections by lines of hyphens please keep those blocks of text separate, I have them split that way as they come from different areas in the code. As for the translation work itself I have divided the text into blocks of 100 lines which equals 17 blocks of text at this time, the following post is where I'll keep track of who's doing what block and it's status please check in with me before taking a block so I can update that post to prevent duplicate work being done.

Once I have them all I'll reinsert them into the game and test it while waiting I will try and get the text for menu pulled

I know we should keep this on the other thread, but I think that what I'll post has great significance.

I once tried to translate this game, but had no success with that. Haven't downloaded it since the 0.52 version, so I don't know how the code is right now, but it's great that you managed to succeed where I failed.

That said, BaronMind was so kind as to provide pretty much a complete translation for the game. It can be found on forum #5421. It should be a matter of knowing which is which. Hope it helps.

So who's translating what? Can we be organized and get, like, a list written down? Can we sign people in? Can we be assigned different parts? Anything of that sort? I just want to know, if I'm going to help with this. For the sake of efficiency.

Yeah I remember that translation work that was done but it's not formatted the same and would take me forever to determine which is which and to top it all off it's old, not sure how much is added or removed from that as there is at least 3 new text files in the same vein as those documents that have been added to the game. That being said thanks for reminding us it may still be useful for the folks that know Japanese and can cross compare.

Haven't figured out a system yet, what I could do is break the text down further in to blocks and either assign them to volunteers or just have people come and pick up a block and give us a heads up in this thread. Then when the block is done, post it here for collection. The only issue I can see is the translators would need to be on the ball communicating to each other so there is consistency with the translation, I would think using the OYP IRC (if we still have it) would be a good place for that as it would be faster but can also be done here. Any suggestions on how the translators would prefer it would be great.

That would be good. That way, no one's going to end up translating 300 lines of dialogue that someone else already did. Let's try that.

Alright it has been broken out into blocks of 100 lines a piece except for block 17 which is around 80. I'll update the upper posts.

Man, I tried running some of those phrases through online translators and the nonsense it produced was worthless. I guess this would take someone with some Japanese language skills-and I gather slurring further complicates translation.

Because of that, I don't think I'll be of use, but I would like to thank everyone involved in this.

Yeah I tried doing that myself, some of the gibberish that comes out is rather amusing but totally worthless. I suspect though that once I get all the menu text that most of it will be machine translatable with some accuracy.

the only thing i'm not sure about so far is "オミジュ" on var_3198 through var_3200 and again in var_3205 and var_3206, I'm not familiar with katakana and I can't tell how it's supposed to be slurred, can anyone help?

"オミジュ" (omiju) sounds like a slurred "water" (omizu) to me.

oh yeah and speaking of SimYukkuri I want to rewrite Chen and Patchy... but i also promised Aya and am still halfway through Remilia... eugh i have no free time anymore...

For SimYukkuri, Baronmind translated Alice's dialogue files and the rest of us used them as templates, so we could write our own dialogue to rid us of the hassle of translating absolutely everything. This is just one big dialogue file so you can't make anything like that :(

Ah OK. On another note your text has been put in to the game and is running properly. I'll have a screen cap up in a little while. There where 4 very minor errors I fixed on lines var_3171,3172,3175 and 3252 that caused the compiler to throw errors apparently on those lines you had an extra quotation mark. Once I figured that out it was an easy fix. So great work are you sure you don't want another?
