Children will no longer refresh with their parents, nor parents with their children.

Any chance that could be modified to still allow forced refreshing through use of the vibrator? I'm by no means a coder so I don't know how tall a task coding in that distinction might be.

Thanks for your work thus far!

derpyhar is not taking it easy and going to work on mister code! Sorry for being so diligent~!

Toilet and bed tools, uneasy mister derpyhar graphics and all, should be up sometime this weekend. Next idea is a "ball" toy your yukkuri can play with, which will be an attempt at introducing a kind of physics.

in less easy news it looks like mimisuke is taking it very easy, as he has not committed since late September.

As always if you fellows have any ideas for things, you're welcome to shoot them at me and hope I'm fast enough to catch a few.

Thank you for giving us a status update, and for continuing to work on this! It's greatly appreciated.

Possibly you could have it so that when you are moving a yukkuri you could see it's condition, like if it is a parent, how healthy/weak it is, how hungry it is, and how happy it is. You could possibly use either a bar or a number to display this information.

I will take this into consideration. I would probably use bars for happiness, hunger, and health (red/yellow/green respectively probably); showing if it is paired off/a parent would be a bit more complex, but maybe I could have it on the sidebar.

Nice to know people are still following this; I cannot promise updates will be quick, but I will keep working on this until people get bored of it.

Take all the time you need derpy, as long as the spark of inspiration and drive doesn't die out, everything is fine.

We appreciate your efforts with this game and we also know how hard is to do something like this, previous failed attemps or half works being a testament of that.

I hope you're able to finish this one, and be sure that we are keeping a close eye, if not having much to say.,,

I’m surprised it worked on Linux.

Anyhow, this game really brings out the schadenfreude in me. I loved giving them the needle after they say “Wanna die?” or suggest licking their assholes. I also hammered a baby right after it was born. Well done!

I have not heard from mimisuke for a while, and he appears inactive on sourceforge.jp, so I am going to headbutt the contact tree and see if some programmer chums drop out.

Otherwise, if anyone feels like making graphics, particularly for other yukkuri types (graphics are the prohibiting element for new yus; it takes under twenty minutes to add the code), leave a message here, post on sourceforge, or shoot me an email (derphyar@gmail.com) and I will tell you what we need.

In the end someone contacted me, but then i answered and i got no response. In case you need something, just tell me what format you need or the specifics. I think TOG would be a better choice because he has a wider range of expressions though.

Well, the images are 128x128 PNGs right now. Really, any kind of ground-bound yukkuri (though I promise flying and aquatic types are future options)

Also, expect a very easy mister surprise with the next commit. Uneasy mister graphics and all. (I will leave it for someone else to discover, either by playing the game or just looking in the code.)

Updated

Okay, that last commit was groundwork for the surprise features, mostly dealing with getting a much more efficient system for organising and loading images. A lot of technical stuff for very little in-game benefit at the present.

As for the kind of images needed, a look at http://sourceforge.jp/projects/simyukkuri/scm/svn/tree/88/trunk/images/marisa/ gives an idea of how many images a given yukkuri type has. (Ignore the 1-3 and 14 pairs; I am not sure what mimisuke intended them for but they are currently unused.)

is that a hybrid? most yus would squash it at sight...

Yep, there are two small hybrids in that picture. Both Marisa-esque Reimus (shown) and Reimu-esque Marisas (graphics forthcoming) are in the code; there is about a 1% chance of a normal pair birthing one and a 25% chance of a hybrid-normal pair birthing one.

The hostility of other yukkuri (excluding parents, good-natured siblings, and gold-badge-quality unrelated yukkuri) towards them is not in the code yet, but they will be treated like yukkuri without accessories in terms of uneasiness.

Hybrids themselves obviously do not display this kind of prejudice, which makes raising an entire pen of hybrids possible but very difficult (they are not available on startup).

Wait, so the coding for behaviour of the yukkuris as in nicehead, average, shithead, etc. is already included in this version?

Or, like how hybrids would be treated in the future, that behaviour coding will be for a future release?

Behaviour classifications are in, but right now they do nothing, not even change the yukkuri's lines.

The current values are enumerated as VERY_NICE, NICE, AVERAGE, SHITHEAD, and SUPER_SHITHEAD, and are determined at birth (generally the parent's, but can increase or decrease by 1: i.e. an AVERAGE yukkuri can have NICE or SHITHEAD children, but a SUPER_SHITHEAD yukkuri will drop out SHITHEADs at best). There will be some way to train them (in either direction, if you really hate yourself that much) in the future, but for now it is just a data point.

AVERAGE and above parents would not mind a hybrid, likewise with NICE siblings and VERY_NICE citizens of the yukkurarium at large.

SHITHEAD parents would probably crush their hybrid offspring as soon as it was born, so keep an eye on them.

SUPER_SHITHEAD parents? http://yukkuri.shii.org/post/show/24597

Ah ok, kinda hoping soon the system will be implemented fully, specially for those who want to breed them without pandering and spoiling shitheads, only those who deserve it.

If not this version, than the next one. The biggest issue for immediate release is the lack of demeanour effects on gameplay; while the property exists, it needs to do something other than be modified in order for it to matter.

I will code up the text and such to consider demeanour sooner rather than later, but probably not for 1.11.

Mister work can't take it easy!

Update is still on the horizon but might be a bit later than anticipated. Hoping for sometime this month but 50/50.
