Yukkuri RP - Interest Check

Posted under General

I'd like to suggest some naming changes as well:

Hoplite - Chief's/Leader's/Dosu's Agent / Chief's/Leader's/Dosu's Scout (Hoplite just sounds too sophisticated and... well, Greek. Also the term Hoplite doesn't suggest the nature of the role at all, since Hoplites were infantry soldiers trained to work in tight formations, not lone agents or ambassadors)

EDIT: I guess the reference in the original is that they Hop Lightly, but that bit of wordplay seems too clever for yukkuris :(

King - Chief / Leader / Dosu (Yukkuris don't have Kings!)

Well, I have a character but I wasn't sure about being a class called a "Hoplite" :(

So I figured I'd suggest the name change and see how it went first.

I'm sorry, I just got a little exasperated there.

Well, I guees 'chief' instead of 'king' is perfectly reasonable.
'Hoplite' -> 'Scout' is also alright.
The rest is merely for convinience sake since - as I said - GURPS B&B doesn't actually have classes, so you can call them whatever you like.

Sorry, I didn't mean to come off as nitpicky. Thank you for compiling the classes! :D

If I may make another suggestion as to a mechanic, to get it to feel a little more yukkuri-ish,

"Empathic Healer: A special class of psionic who can heal others using their empathic powers to absorb some of their wounds."

Instead of having it be psychic magic, how about paste transfusions or something like that? It doesn't change the core gameplay mechanic as you're still xferring hp from one pool to another, and it's a bit more in line with 'normal' yukkuri physiology.

And I would like to roll a Chen, please. An unusually loaf-shaped Chen with the by-name of "Kittybread!" And I'd like to be a member of the Chief's Scouts.

Two problems:
1) There would no longer be a need a special power i.e, anyone could do it
2) Empathic healing doesn't work like that. Without delving into the details of the game mechanics, rather than just transferring the damage it gets 'transformed' into fatigue instead. Also, you can heal poison, illness, even shock or confusion with Empath powers - I don't see how Anko transfusion could plausibly do that.

Consider 'Kittybread' Chen approved. :-)

Oh, nm on that then.

and as for a few lines on 'Kittybread' Chen's background and personality, I'll get to that soon.

Damn you Zidana, you stole MY Chen! But I guess it's first come, first serve.

Classes look good, so I'm ready to roll a Sakuya - Empathic Healer.
"Sakuya" is more than fine, but if you need a name to avoid confusion she is "Pudding"!
I'll PM you a little of background tomorrow about her behaviour/story/goal/etc if needed, tomorrow.

Nvm, already PM'ed.

Updated

'Kittybread' Chen was born in a litter of 5 to a Chen father and a Letty mother. Her unusual loaf shape may be due to her mother. Because of her flatter body, a larger amount of her foot can touch the ground and this has resulted in her being slightly faster than most Chens.

She likes eating and is rather pudgy, with short stubby tails, but keeps active enough to not be overweight. She might be even faster if she lost some weight, though.

She is rather stupid, even for a Chen, but is cheerful and likes to help other yukkuris out.

I would like to add that having more than one yukkuri of the same type is perfectly fine; that's what the by-names are for.
Mre than one character from the same class is also okay, a balanced party is advisable, but I won't stop you unless you went all Bards, for example.

That's very good, I can work with that.
She will get stats and perks appropiate for her character.

Also, a note on yukkuri lore:
Unless a yukkuri has the perk 'Math Wiz', a yukkuri cannot count beyond four, so they would say 'One, two, three, four, LOTS!'.
A math wiz would be able to count up to eight! They would continue 'four-one, four-two, four-three, four-four!'.
Most yukkuri probably wouldn't know what they're talking about.
You can still use basic arthimetic within those constraints, though.

So for example, Kittybread Chen wasn't born into a litter of five, but a litter of LOTS of Chen's and Letty's.

It's usually One, Two, Three, Lots!

Or is the four number adapted from rabbits?

It's from B&B.

I know being able to coutn up to four is pretty imba, but I trust you folks can handle it. ;)

My Riku yukkuri if I may would like to be a warrior. Friendly lil guy. You can check out my pic as it has everything you need to know about him there.

I guess I will allow it for now, this is supposed to be a Test run anyway.
Although you can pretty much forget about all of the stuff about magic accesories, swords, darkness, Ascended/Fallen etc.
For one, I don't think it meshes very well with Yukkuri fanon.
More importantly. it definitley isn't compatible with my vision of a Bunnies&Burrows derived Yukkuri RPG.

So your Riku would be more like a Youmu with a spikey hairdo, but you can still use the Riku if you want.
