Yukkuri RP - Interest Check

Posted under General

I had this idea ever since I started working on this, but I couldn't decide whether to implement it or not, so I would like to hear the opinion of my players:
My idea is that among yukkuri tribes, it is customary for yukkuri without braids to braid their hair into flap-flaps that can be used to hold objects and give them some fine-control when working on various things, although these 'limbs' possess very little strength (so they're of no use in a fight unless you're throwing something).
The reason for this is that I think Yukkuri are already disadvantaged enough as it is and that it would be unfair for some types to have advantages over all others, as I would like to keep the choice of yukkuri types entirely cosmetic.

Of course: be it braids or the mouth, a yukkuri is skilled enough to do whatever it takes to fai- ehr, do her job.

Now a question for you: players' deadline to post in the IC thread?
Not everyone can be on the net everyday and sometimes IRL troubles can show up.
Let's say 4 players out of 5 post their replies, but one doesn't show up due to his reasons.
How many days before you continue nevertheless? (obv assuming that said player doesn't have to do something fundamental to the progression of the plot).
Better to know it now that we are at the very start!

So I take it you would be okay with this?

That entirely depends on the specific circumstances, but if you tell me beforehand, I'm sure we can work something out.
More problematic are players who go AWOL for days without saying anything, be it because they forgot or simply couldn't come online to inform me; you know, when someone suddenly loses their Internet connection or similiar.
In such a case I definitely wouldn't wait for more than a week before trying to move things along, turning the character into an NPC temporarily.

I can drag them along like this forever, but I'd prefer for players to tell me if something comes up that will keep them away from OYP for an extended period of time, even though they want to keep on playing.

I'm fine with other people if they want braids on their normally braid-less yukkuri types, but Kittybread Chen will not be having braids!

Well, you did say that she isn't particularily bright :-p

I'm ok with this but I don't think Satori needs it. She can just use her arteries like in post #49087

So, I just have to ask, how is the RP going for everybody?
This goes to both players and everybody else who might be reading the the thread.

At this moment, the only observation I'm going to make is that you guys are moving pretty slow.
Now, I don't want to speculate, so maybe you can tell me what's going on?

Does your schedule not allow you to be online more often?
Maybe you don't know what to write?

If it's anything I could do something about, I'd like to hear it.

I see what you did there.

But it doesn't apply to me! Chen gets it! Chen is the fastest! :D

Chen gets it, but Satori doesn't D:

I been waiting for more of the experienced players to post before me, because I'm not really sure of how much should my character move in each iteration.

I promise I'll post faster once I get a better feel for the pacing of the game.

Well, do we even have experienced players among us?
I remember someone saying that he had experience with D&D and Vampire, but that's very different from Bunnies&Burrows, never mind a homebrew RP based on B&B that is played via Internet forum.

I would recommend you simply experiment and try out whatever comes to mind.
We're still in the prologue and I was planning to do an extended tutorial, where I explain things as they come up.

Once we're done with meeting the elders, you can pretty much do whatever you want.
If you want to explore your "home town", interact with characters there, do roleplay between players etc. then you can do that.

but don't split the party or there will be hurt hurt!

I'm not going to deliberately seperate the party, but other than that, it's up to you whether the party stays together or not.

Not you! The party! There's the whole joke about the DM not liking players that split the party and whatnot.

Oh, okay.

Although I will say that smomething like this is a very minor concern in Play-by-Post games such as this one.
Where splitting the party would effectively double the workload for the GM, it has almost no effect here.

I work on weekends and generally use friday to hang out so I post less often those days!
By these evening you'll have mine reply to the thread.
Now I could write a simply "I follow her", but that's not how I like it. You'll be surprised to know how many things I cancelled in my previous post just because I didn't want to be self-centered at first...

Well, like I said, once you are done with the Elders (you don't really have to say anything except "I'll do it!" if you don't want to; I'm just giving you the opportunity to ask questions, make requests or just say/do anything you'd like.), you are completely free and can do whatever you want.
Doing your own thing while you are still in town or roleplaying between player characters is perfectly okay and in fact encouraged.

It's only when you are going from one encounter/location to the next that you really have to stick together, but there's nothing to do while you are on the move, except routine things that I won't play out unless necessary.

Just to clarify Anon kun, are you addressing Boss Alice as Dosu or am I misunderstanding you?
Because she's not a Dosu, she's a normal (rabbit-sized) yukkuri like the rest of you - otherwise she would have a hard time fitting in that tree.

The yukkuri leading a tribe is either called Chief or simply Boss, hence everyone only calls her 'Boss Alice'.

It's not a faux pas or anything, just not a mistake a yukkuri would make, although we could roll with it and say she called Boss Alice "Dosu" out of habit.
