One Yukkuri Place

Tag requests

Checking a few old pics, it made me wonder if we should have a tag for Shithead/Trash/Bad Pet Yukkuris?

Maybe for both Shitheads that somehow were made into pets or stubborn and misbehaving pet yukkuris that won't listen to their owners delaing to gruesome ends.

using sales_guy from now on. Didn't find any salesnu-aki pictures. Also aby is now hiduki_ryou, took me forever to remember to do that one. >_>

Shit head is shit head. No need to identify between trash and bad pet and etc. Shithead is a subject enough tag, we don't need people to say "well this badly behaved yukkuri is trash so it should have trash tag associated with it..."

etc. You see where this leads. Less subjective tags, more descriptive ones.

You can identify shit pets by using shithead + pet_yukkuri. Trash by gutter_trash + shithead, etc.

Nope. Do we still need it though? It seems like they never really caught on and they're no different from really small yukkuris.

Define "caught on".

Who else uses yukkuris that evolved specifically to live in human homes thanks to their extremely small size and do so without a "home declaration"?

pool #604
pool #610
pool #615
pool #718
anko 3377

and countless single pics that I can't find easily as we have no tag for mini/bean/house yukkuri

pool #604 is the "creator" of house-yus.
pool #610 "Cockroach Yu" is the creator's official name for them. They're not "house-yu".
pool #615 and pool #718 aren't home invasions.
We don't have an anko3377 picture.

And don't make a tag based on their size. Yukkuris have no "official" size in the first place, we'd be tagging them everything from microscopic (post #15602) to city-sized (post #38229). The "dosuyukkuri" tag is the best you're gonna get when it comes to larger than "normal" sized yukkuris.

What I actually want is one tag for all "really small yukkuris." Sometimes I just wanna see what various artists have done with the concept, whether the dwarf-yus are disgusting household pests or super-cute, highly-sought-after pets.

Yukkuris have no "official" anything, but there does seem to be a widely-held notion of their size. I feel like I've read a huge number of ankos that described normal adult yukkuris as being "about the size of a basketball" (NBA standard: about 9.5 inches in diameter) or "about 30 cm in diameter" (11.8 inches). In artwork, I feel like yukkuris sometimes appear a bit bigger or smaller than that (although the artist's skill/attention to proportion/perspective could make a difference), but even so, you generally don't see works in which a normal adult yukkuri is supposed to be as small as a grapefruit or as big as a sit-up ball.

I'm fine with the microscopic ones being lumped under the same tag as bean-yus, mini-yus, and house-yus.

Understandable, but very difficult to implement to the point of impracticability. The fact of the matter is dwarf-yus (cockroach yu, house yu, whatever) didn't catch on. That means if you want to create this new tag: you'd effectively find someone/champion the tag yourself until it catches on.

And thats without getting into the question "how do you make size comparisons where there are enough/appropriate objects in the picture?" and retagging older pictures.

True but a lot of us also operate under the understanding that "all artists/writers create their own self-contained universe" therefore, an artist/writer may decide "in MY universe, the standard size yukkuri is a golf ball!" and we provide allowances for that.

Up to you.

That said, I'm not trying to discourage this to be mean. I'm just trying to be practical about this tag.

There are an insufficient number of works to warrant a really_small_yukkuri tag? I think there _are_, but I'll let that point go.

It may be hard to determine if the yukkuris in a picture are small? Well, then, we only tag the pictures where we can _tell_ that they are.

It'll be hard to find all the older pictures to tag them? True, but if we _had_ a tag, at least we could try.

How is tagging their pics "really_small_yukkuri" (or whatever) not allowing them that? The tag wouldn't be insisting that, contrary to the artist's intentions, the yukkuris _must_ be mutants or household pests or a rare breed, it's just grouping them with other works in which yukkuris have a similar size difference with their surroundings. Heck, in something like, say, Remiryaaki's comic about the Dosu failing to rescue the yukkuris trapped under the cup, there's no indication that basketball-sized yukkuris also exist in that world.

Why are you fighting this tag so hard, guy? Did a pygmy-yu tag run over your dog or something?

There's literally no harm in having a tag for pygmy-yus especially considering there's over 50 pages of tags with only one post. I can also guarantee it'll see more use than some stupidier tags we've got like "gonna_cut_you_bitch", "oh_shit" and "hwottttch"

Ok, you're obviously passionate about this tag, I know when I can't win. Might as well go ahead and just make the tag.

Ask me again when we don't have 5 tags that are for a "tall yukkuri".

My request isn't for a specific tag, but for the taggers to PLEASE CHECK FOR THE PROPER SPELLING while tagging. When in doubt, use an existing tag instead.

For example, it's "tongue", not "tounge". Also, "yukkuri", not "yukurri".
