Curiosity overtook the child, just like it does with any other kid. The only fault I see is either the movers leaving the door open and not assuring the pet's attendance, or miss's for leaving the door open wide infront of a kid.

I believe the sympathy that darroth and poweryoga talked about was the kind you lose when a fictional idiot character screws up and bad stuff happens, and all the bad stuff wouldn't had happened if the idiot listened to others, and since this isn't one of those stories on which "the pet finally returns and everybody learns a lesson", it's harder to not have a "Well done breaking it hero" sentiment to the Reimu, regardless of the movers actions.
I do pity the Reimu, but i do see how stupid she was, and how she has the majority of the fault in this scenario with the movers "anti escaped yukkuri" policy being the 2nd culcript, all of this would had been avoided if she had listened to miss clear as crystal orders.

While the Reimu does have fault in the scenario (I shouldn't have implied that she had none) I am going to continue with my argument that she is still very young and naive.
I am more so baffled as to why the miss did not simply take little Reimu with her to the house instead of leaving her to the movers. Usually when people move they take their pets with them personally, and especially considering this one's age, Reimu really should have not been left in a situation where she could leave the house unsupervised regardless of how well trained miss thought she was. (Although if I am not mistaken, the quality of the badge is never revealed, so it could have been bronze.)
You have to consider that we aren't given that much information, so anything could happen, maybe miss had to fill up some paperwork of the new house or do something related to her work while the movers would move things to the new house and also take care of the little reimu. we don't have much information to assume beyond "Miss had to leave and couldn't take Reimu with her, because of that she ordered her to remain in the home and wait for the movers."
This is, as i said in another page, the base for the typical fable of the kid not listening to the parents or adults and going to a dangerous place or getting lost, and something horrible happening to the kid because of it. The Aesop is usually "listen when someone tells you to not go to the dangerous or unknown place.".
Reimu will go on an adventure and tell miss about it!These are dangerous times!Reimu isn't a child any more! You'll get your ears chewed!
