Lame attempt of low blow sympathy...at least for the deibus, though in this case it's a "pitiful orphan"
I think this one is being truly honest and not arrogant about it, i mean, usually the pitiable line is said with arrogant tone and smug, here she sounds truly desperate, specially because she just asks for food and a warm place to rest, not to "hand over all your stuff and GTFO".
May i add that usually the "pitiful single mother" line has as much effectiveness as Puff Puff, aka basically it doesn't work for shit and just makes the opposite reaction than the one intended.....no wait, it's even worse than puff puff, because Yukkuris never fall for it, unlike with puff puff.
Not between Yukkuris, it somehow is effective between themselves, pitiful mother isn't and many times if they harm one, they may be seriously harmed by the rest because they don't buy the pitiful mother line.
And if they use it with Mister Humans, guess what? same than puff puff.
So Pitiful Mother IS worse than Puff Puff, since it isn't effective with neither yukkuri and non yukkuri, so the willingless to harm her are greated out of Deibu awareness, while with Puff Puff, the yukkuris would be scared and wouldn't attack.
Intention is also important, but, you can't blame them to wonder if she's Deibuish, again, they ABUSE of the "pitiful something" line...so it's like...well their trademark phrase or something.
Of course, while the tone of voice is damn important, yukkuris aren't exactly aware of this, they seem to give more importance to the words they use than how they used them or how they said it. I had never seen a Deibu using the pitiful mother line in a credible way, neither i had seen yukkuris realize when it's out of place to say "drop dead easy" or that kind of lines, sometimes they even said them cheerfully to someone without realizing it may lead to their doom.
So yeah, in yukkuris, it's damn important the tone of voice, sadly, they rarely are aware of it which leads to a notoriosu missuse and abuse of words and phrases, that tend to screw them badly.
