holy wall of text
This story is legendary, and pretty much what inspired my vision of yukkuris, even if i may not be as merciful as the mister here.
This is, in my opinion, the best version of yukkuris, and the best yukkuri story. They, the yukkuris, are:
- arrogant - think they can take on the world- speak in the third person- very dumb- very "yukkuri" way of looking at things( Mister vegetables grow out of the ground by themselves!) - thoroughly trashed by mister- not only beaten to a pulp but also mentally broken- some philosophy to put things in the proper context and give the reader something to think about
The only thing I don't like is that paste core nonsense, but other than that it's perfection.
Well we could say that the paste core is the naturally grow magical device that makes them living manjuus, many compare it to the brain and such, and without it the yukkurs are pretty much dead.
Yet, the core isn't necessarily harder than the rest of the filling, as much darker, and separated of the rest of the filling for some reason.
Dunno why it should be such a problem, unless people really want yukkuris without any kind of hint of semi LOGIC in their biology to justify some functions.
And by LOGIC i mean, the same way there are SCIENCE and MAGIC in fiction to justify stuff that clearly won't work in real life.
I've already mentioned this many times, but I'll say it again. First, it's completely unnecessary. We don't need any logical explanations for their completely illogical existence or behavior.
Second, the more rules and explanations you attach to yukkuris the more limited they become, because now everything has to work a certain way.
it varies from artist to artist, this question is irrelevant..
Even without the paste core, mister had a great many ways to destroy the yukkuri swiftly. Love the font used, distinguishes between speakers very clearly.
In the funny way , is they be...something?most of them is stupid enough to do anything...aaanythig.I believe that is a root of eeeverything.
The anon's speech is very deep and cool, but long-winded.
Maybe that speech is meant to represent all the average joes and justice fans wonder of "what drives the yukkuri to try to achieve easiness, through pure uneasiness, or to technically steal easiness from others?" Something i do wonder sometimes.
Greed? Sloth? a Simple mind made absolutist?
It do make one wonder what drives this creatures to go so wrong. And so the anon gives a speech that doesn't only work for his situation but represent a great deal of the fandom wonder "in story" about what drives the yukkuris into such uneasy path.
I agree with you, JIE. The speech does seem to represent all average joes and justice fans. And, Hand of Fayt (Hand of Troll, actually) should be banned. Even I hadn't gone as far as him... I think.
Yeah you had been quite tame and well behaved lately Mezzo that for sure, though i don't know if i can agree with some of your outside OYP and YFG comments . . .
Wow, food for thought... holy shit.
This really gets you thinking why dumbass yukkuri try to break and enter so often. Then again these ones actually had the brains to cut off the BS superiority complex and actually learn from the anon. They got to leave, bet not in nearly as good condition as they came in with.
They deserve everything that happened to them, and possibly more to the average abuser-type; what with their desire to take it easy, which really is a moot and empty goal, and their "it grew on its own" bullshit... the human PLANTED it, damn! How long does it take for them to figure THAT enigma out?
Quite frankly, in this situation I'd probably be a hell of a lot less philosophical in the moment, but really...
These things don't even EXIST IRL, so let's just browse and enjoy easy, mkay?
The idea of ownership is a complicated idea and not all cultures have that concept, mainly more primitive ones, so the idea that yukkuris wouldn't understand ownership makes sense.
That doesn't make their attitude any more acceptable anelaid, and besides, they do have some degree of understanding about ownership, territorial kind.
If someone goes to their "easy places" they would whine and get angry at the invader.
Here they are doing the same thing, invading "Mister Human's Easy Place".
So there isn't really any excuse.
But again, their "ignorance" isn't much of justification or excuse to not be hard on them, many times yukkuris have attitudes and mindsets that just make things worse combined with their ignorance, aside of a unwillingness to listen to others if things don't go their way or are trying to explain why what they are doing is wrong, at least that's the case with 90%-80% of them, and this yukkuris here, clearly belong to such group.
Animals are territorial, but that is seperate from the concept of ownership. For animals, it is a matter of taking the area it wants, by force if necessary, and that it doesn't really -belong- to anyone. They have territories and fight each other for it but thats not related to ownership.
As an animal gets more acquanited with people, like getting feed, and so on, its more likely to get into conflict. In the real-world, any animal that attacks a human is put down, at least in the United States, as a matter of policy so he is more forgiving than what would be afforded to another animal.
Then again, this is a story involving "shitheads" but it seems like they got the point.
It's a form of ownership to some degree, some respect the territory, some don't, but if they are fought back and can't win they'll accept the defeat and retreat. Yukkuris, well, they don't apply much of the territorial rules like animals, if a human beat them up and defeat them, they won't retreat and accept defeat, they will either use faulty logic and faulty attitude to justify the defeat and how they are entintled to the "easy place" and other stuff. Maybe you can call the yukkuris sore challengers, since win or lose, they'll be sore about it and either gloat at their victory or call foul at a defeat.
I suspect this yukkuris may be trash ones more than shitheads.
Trash ones, in few cases have the potential of change, maybe they may be the closest thing to "someone neutral natured" in the yukkuri species.
Besides, we still don't know if they really understood the message, at the end it kinda was more like the anon speaking and them just listening or not saying anything.
The end sure was quite open.
I thought it said it wanted to hear what the anon had to say.
I wouldn't call all yukkuris that, I think its a matter of over representing shitheads for the sake of storytelling/author interest.
Oh, and territorial instincts are separate from an understanding of ownership, especially when talking about animals, since a lot of animals, in a way, mark their territory. You can't say cats don't act like they own everything :V
Best story on this whole site.
@anelaidreturns I'd like to defend yukkuris but there's no helping here the yukkuris clearly say things to the effect of "this belongs to me" and stuff. Atleast here anyway. They do know the aspect of ownership and possesion. I'd pardon them because I'm the forgiving type and accept their silliness and childishness but it doesn't stand for everybody.
Defending yukkuris, just like going out and attacking them, is a rather pointless exercise. Trying to convert people or whatever is a rather futile affair, too. Some people like it, some people don't. There isn't really a need to page fill over "defending their actions" to reach that conclusion. Nobody is going to change their minds. What you think is forgiveable, is not to other people, what you think is understandable and natural for them, still doesn't excuse them to other people, etc.
Err hope you ain't talking to me.
This is glorious and what I feel stories should be like.
Instead of just torturing the things, you beat them up and show them their wrongs. Teach them that they should do these things. Then, release them back into the wild to tell the tale. Make it so this doesn't happen again. Although, this family will probably be killed before they get back home and if they do make it back, the herd might kill them.
I want children from that anon. He is the perfect one.
man I haven't felt like this sense I saw the the dark knight, everyone allways totures yukkuri but nobody stops to question why, why do yukkuri act the way they do, why do yukkuri desire to have children so strongly, why do yukkuri beleave them to be so strong when threw out history the've seen there ancestors repeatadly torn to peace. A lot of people may think yukkuri are just stupid, but we all know that not the case, we've seen nitoris creat some pretty awsome inventions. I think yukkuri avoid trying to understand things because they fear what might happen to them if they knew more, after all knowladge can be dangeriouse thing. If yukkuri could work together without trying to kill one another, well who knows, maybe something amazing will happen maybe something horriable would happen. But I can say one thing, if yukkuri could learn to work together and listen to one another they would probably be a lot better off than they are now.
Yukkuriking, what you said is the exact opposite of what is going on in the yu world and the fandom. Like everything you said it doesn't happen it's actually happening and everything you said that happens it doesn't happen.
You are trying to give them too much credit when the credit doesn't exist to begin with, they aren't oustanding creatures in disguise, they don't have great latent potential, they aren't misunderstood or anything. They are simple creatures, made by someone, and maybe modified by someone else or not. They want to take it easy, that's all they want, the problem is that way to many of them abide to "take it easy no matter what" which leads to their continous conflict with not only humans but the world.
Yukkuris won't be better off when they stick togheter, they'll be better of when they stop antagonizing the world and defying it, demmanding it to shape to their will with no effort by them and just because they say so. When Yukkuris stop being assholes in their majority, things will be better, like in the beginning, when they didn't antagonize humanity and the world, and they loved the yu's back because of that.
