Synopsis: A pet gold-badge Reimu and a stray Marisa are in love. Reimu's owner hates strays and has been known to hand them over to the abusive Mister next door, so they can only be together when Reimu gets permission to go out by herself and rides her suii to the park where Marisa lives.
Reimu is torn between her love for her owner and her love for Marisa, but when her owner begins suggesting that they go to the pet store to find a gold-badge mate for her, she decides she wants to be with Marisa even if it means she has to become a stray. To avoid hurting Mister's feelings by dumping him, she starts feigning Deibu behavior to get him to disown her. Mister doesn't understand the change in her, but he lets her go, leaving the gold badge on her and telling her she can come back if she changes her mind.
Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Reimu, Marisa has decided that the only way she can be with Reimu is if she becomes a pet yukkuri herself, so she begins the dangerous process of asking humans to adopt her...
Ending: Determined to become a stray, Reimu takes off her badge and leaves it in the grass outside her house, and giving up the suii Mister bought her, she begins the long walk to the park. Depicted in the illustration is the moment when Reimu and Marisa--finally adopted--unknowingly pass each other in the street. Marisa gets an uneasy feeling at her new owner’s house--he turns out to be the abusive Mister who lives next door to Reimu's owner. Meanwhile, Reimu's owner is expecting Reimu to come back to him after a few days of struggling on the streets. He notices on the calendar that the next day is the town's monthly yukkuri eradication day, but thinks that Reimu’s gold badge will mark her as someone’s pet and keep her safe.
