this feels like the artist actually hates touhou and makes these things for the sake of hating on the series
It looks like you're projecting, I don't think abyuse has to be hate-related. I do not hate yukkuris or Touhou and I enjoy abyuse (well... actually I hate the worst oniisans torturing innocent yus but I still like to read these stories).
That's not what I wanted to say. By "projecting" I meant that the fact that you hate yukkuri suggests to you that Murayu-aki also has to hate them.
The second quote there was more or less a rough interpretation or wildly grasping at straws trying to explain why someone would take yukkuri this far giving them actual organs and making them that human. I will admit I did throw around a bit too much of my own bias and opinion in it, though.
So basically this. My feeling would be that Murayu-aki doesn't hate the characters, just enjoys guro. But I don't have any strong evidence for that either.

No, I wasn't really assuming he hated yukkuri because I hate them. I was assuming he hates them because he draws them being graphically maimed and killed in increasingly disturbing ways.
Wait, aren't these the same guys who are supposed to be gathering rare types for the crazy Nazi police state? Wouldn't it make more sense to take them alive for a bounty rather than wasting them?
