If I lived in Australia, I would probably just put my shoes inside jumbo ziplock baggies and seal it tight. Then lock it up in a safe that I would later ship off to Canada.

Not all that dumbass. Unless the shoe smells like a certain 17 years old maiden, it wouldn't traumatize her enough to last a good night sleep.
