A bronze badge has never stopped the pain train. It only indicates ownership and yus of such quality are cheap and easily replaceable.
Honestly, has there ever been a story of an abyuser getting in trouble for beating on a badged yukkuri?
Not that I've seen. There's a story about someone else's gold-badge yukkuri being kidnapped and abyused by some kid in a "Fuck You" T-shirt. None featuring platinum-badged yus, although in theory that would be akin to assaulting a human being, if I'm not mistaken.
You gotta wonder if and how animal cruelty laws would apply to yukkuri. A lot of people would see kicking a stray yukkuri around like a failed Cleveland Browns field goal in the same light as swinging a cat around by its tail or duct-taping a dog's snout shut.
Well, in abyuse story, badge could be interpreted as... - Bronze: shitbag got badge? didn't see that lolz - Silver: shithead with owner, destined to be abyused and killed, or abandoned to beg adoption before being abyused and killed. - Gold: like silver, only more arrogant, so it's okay to torture them too.
- Platinum and niceheads: abusing and killing them are like getting off doing NTR or corruption of virgins. You're losing so much of life if you never know the feeling of superiority from having power to take everything from the yukkuri who thought they're safe, showing them their worthlessness and how their efforts to be nice are meaningless in front of the ultimate power of human. All without fear or repercussion.

It's the unexplored factor in abyuse story side.
Yukkuri don't have any protection, they're just there to be place when main character can do the violence without any consequences.
Suppliers of shithead-pet-turns-stray for example, are never seen punished despite it's common for law in the story to forbid abandoning living yukkuri.
The society will just cheer them, and those who stand for yukkuri's cause will always be presented as caricature of the extremist tree-hugger organizations who demand thing with weak arguments and no effective actions rather than a reasonable adversary with good reasons.
Yukkuri are seen worst than discriminated ethnic group by the (discriminating) society. To make hyperbole of it, someone who tortured and kill yukkuri should be privileged of lifetime compensation for doing great deed for the world.
After all, she clearly already owns two Momijis. Why not?
Besides, screw her. She was stealing from that family. They sang and performed (somewhat poorly) for peoples' entertainment. They weren't harming anyone.
But yeah, typical ending: abyusers go and kill them, because yukkuri. And no, badges wouldn't save them at all.
I imagine in these universes, stray yukkuri populations are rather high, and so they're somewhat perceived as no different from infestations of insects. I would assume if they were truly represented by law, then there'd be a greater movement to shelter them, even if it meant putting a few (dozen) to sleep (permanently, then grinding them up for food) in order to control their population.
Insects, or rats, or rabbits in Australia. And as they're composed of sweet paste which are highly nutritious would cause the former to balloon in population size and the former contain more disease that can jump the species barrier.
Don't know if rats are protected under animal cruelty laws. You can kill them in gruesome ways although I don't think they can be tortured.

The Yukkuri are unique in that they breed like rats and rabbits and are just about as destructive, but their speech ability and basic humanesque cognitive capabilities place them a rung above the average dog or cat in some regards. Their durability is about on par with insects - a boot stomp is usually enough the permanently flatten out a scummy yu, just as it would be for a cockroach.

When I was younger, I used to read a lot of hentai with NTR/corruption elements and I also see that theme replicated plenty with abyuse comics, especially in stories where the world setting is tailor-made for making a yu's life a living hell.
Most of vets really don't want to eutanize animals
No kidding, my mom worked as a veterinary assistant when she was yonger. Every time the vet had to put an animal down he would go into his office to sit and hold the cat that lived there. If you like animals the worst job you could have is a vet.
The thing is, Factory and their workers in abyuse story are usually one of two types.
1. A thinly veiled fun job for those who enjoy torturing yukkuri. In Factory they have access to unlimited supply, endless fund and new tools, and they can even get out with "it's just a job". But the only thing they enjoy more than killing yukkuri is to torture them before killing. Really, fun job with high pay, it's a dream job for many.
or
2. An emotionless production line where they really don't give a damn about the yukkuri suffering (unlike the abyuser factory where they take suffering as serious business more than profit) and just want to churn out yukkuri product as efficiently as possible.
It's also not an uncommon mindset to consider yukkuri's speech as merely "random sound that happen to be similar to human's vocabulary". It's like hearing words in foreign language that sounds like one in yours but holds totally unrelated meaning. With that mindset, the fact that yukkuri's "barking sound" is similar to human language is seen as merely an unfortunate coincidence. *stomp*

The two Momiji got Factory badge, so they are pro and the maintenance is handled by Factory. Probably there's a handler, but their position could be just as high as a company owned bulldozer rather than private owned pet.

Depends on who's story you're reading and where the yukkuri are. Gutter trash yukkuri tend to breed far less, as food is harder to obtain and shelter is harder to find. Wild yukkuri tend to breed like rabbits, as food is more plentiful, and since they can just eat the grass and not have their taste buds ruined by human food, they can sustain their families easier.
It's been discussed that yukkuri in city life aren't stupid when it comes to family -- they know if they have lots and lots of kids, they won't be able to provide, and thus, all of them die.

Some anon killed a bodied gold-b Remi ( Who was guarding a whole park) "because he sees no difference between good and bad yukkuris" aka "all are to die" Later he was framed for life for killing platinum-badged Sanae.

And I hope they let a pack of bodied yukkuri beat him to within an inch of his life.
I feel like humans in yukkuri stories are somehow immune to karma, yet yukkuri get instant karma. Why does the yuniverse favor one over another?

Because the stories are just written like that. At least when you write and illustrate your own, you can shape the fate of the average yukkuri however you want.
