This is where and when translation matters so we can get the motivation of the characters. Secondly we had also look at the art and appreciate the skill and style difference of this vs takumi's other work

Motivation for those children ?

Reimu and Marisa pick up the can those children throw and properly put it into the trash can.
An adult remind the children not to litter, that they should learn from Reimu and Marisa.
They got annoyed and then start to beat yukkuri and blaming them for them getting scolded.

It's really like bullying the model student because teacher told you to behave.

Adult abyuser are usually just sadistic, their desire is really to torture the yukkuri and have pleasure from it.

Children (and some immature adults) seems to be abyusing as a way to cover up their sense of inferiority. They can't fight back against the person they really hate (adult, boss, rival) and instead throw it on yukkuri that are safe and can't fight back. Really, case of hurt people hurt people.
They got high from torturing weaker creature and get the illusion that they're so mighty (look, I can kill your kid and you can't do anything but cry).

The difference being, for the sadistic, it's only yukkuri and have to be yukkuri.
But for those trying to show superiority, yukkuri is just a safe outlet since they can't do it against other human.
That's more pitiful than the devastated yukkuri.
Worse if it's not backed by good storytelling.

Yep, child bullies are a special kind of awful. Could never do much about it myself when I was that young; it was usually the parents themselves enabling that kind of behavior.

Yeah I find myself losing interest lately because every story's the same. I love takumi/big.g/etc's art, but when I know the end result before even opening the comic I just wonder if it's worth reading to begin with.

Just treat it like a hero comic: drama, bad guy gets defeated; occasional scum victory with lots of herd death.

To be fair, this is an early Takumi work, where it was all yukkuri must die by the end requirement.

Not that that has changed -that- much, but this was more of one of those rage-enducing ones because the yukkuri actually did nothing wrong, but were still killed.

If it were merely not doing anything wrong, it wouldn't even be as rage-inducing as it is. They were punished specifically because they did something right, and an adult scolded children for not even being able to be as civic-minded as a yukkuri.

...Huh, when I put it that way... These two were clearly outliers, niceheads to a degree rarely seen outside of gold/platinum badge yukkuri, the species as a whole is generally extremely selfish. Being outcitizened by a yukkuri, I suppose it is rather embarrassing.
