When I read this kind of stories, I wonder how much the abyuse cycle costs I mean, for this story, this Marisa and the previous one seemed to be well-behaved, so they're probably not those soon-to-be-disposed yukkuris that shops give at a very low price Also considering that miss abyuses the Marisa when the previous one dies, we can probably safely assume she buys a new one every one or two days, since the abyused Marisa can't take it easy at all It feels like the abyuser life is only for rich people :/
I think abyuse is actually pretty affordable in a world where there's wild and mass-bred yus.
Actually, for the common types, I doubt there's much (if any) premium for the smarter or nicer koyukkuri. Marisas, Reimus and Alices etc are so common that probably little effort of weeding out the good from the bad happens, let alone training. I would think that quality common yus are either found wild, come from private breeders or luck-of-the-draw at pet stores. And livestock yus? I always presume they mass-breed shitheads for that. Unfortunately, they'll have a nicehead spawn now and then.
Uncommon types like Reisen, Yuuka, Nitori and Sanae probably get every ko screened. Rare ones like Yukari, Byakuren and Shinki would have every ko screened and a minimum level of training in my headcanon. Uncommon shitheads could be sold at a premium for discerning abyusers or those willing to take a chance on reforming a yu for profit. Rare shitheads could be sold for abyuse, but again in my headcanon, they would be bred to (minimum) uncommon or rare nicheads because of the breeding value.
In short, with untold thousands of (say) Marisas, it's probably more trouble than its worth to sort them, sad to say.
Stories like this are why in my headcanon, abyuse is viewed as a mental illness due to it's addictive nature.
I mean, she's going to keep doing this. Over and over again.
That can't be healthy.
It's no different from gambling or smoking. Or, hell, throw mobile games in there too - even if they're not as directly unhealthy people still spend stupid amounts of money on them for no good reason. And because of that money they're here to stay, whether we like it or not.

And hey, maybe she's breeding them herself?
or add any activity that produces dopamine in your brain

Heck, people spend hundreds of dollars on trading cards for tcgs, i wouldn't start calling them mentally ill because they sink a lot of money into a hobby (however questionable it may be).
Yeah, but we're treading between the grounds of hobbies and a living thing. :P Of course, we could break down the arguments, blah blah blah, inanimate yet somehow alive pastries and all that.
Well for the money she could probably resell those maricha hats. Some idiots yukkuri lovers actually go all the way to buy spare hats when their pets hats got broken right? And it might sell for almost as much as the marichas costed since an accessoryless yu is a worthless yu so technically those hats are like >90% of the marichas worth.

Would be an interesting way to at least get some money back. Resell the hats to pet shops.
Also...

Guilty. :P Besides, it's still gambling when you open your pack up to see what cards you get. You just buy the card directly because it's often easier/cheaper. Being patient helps, too, as card values tend to drop rather quick. People just want to make a quick buck off of desperation, or stupidly-rare (Magic) cards.
I see these types of stories with the factory/maker of these yukkuris being the ones to profit off the obsessive nature of abyusers. With the extremely perishable nature of yukkuris, even if you're selling these at $2/3 a pop, the cost to produce them is negligible and if you hold a sale (dozen for $1 or something), it'll seem like a super good deal and people will keep buying them anyway.
They essentially cost $0 to produce and has a huge profit margin. Produces quickly and 0 cost to maintain (if you maintain at all). It's like the perfect product, and completely organic/eco friendly to boot.
Miss looks rather apathetic when you can see her whole face. Her obsession with losing important things and being left to suffer makes me wonder if she is depressed. Like an emotional vampire she is feeding off of Marisa's suffering to make herself feel better. Likely what ever financial cost the constant flow of Marisas is offset by the emotional high she gets.

In truth, this Marisa is merely a throwaway disposable yukkuri, soon to be fed to predators as confirmed in post #69596. She was sold for a mere 50 yen.
I prepared ALL FOR YOU.For that you become more brighter,That's why I gave you ALLI wanna make you brightest perfectly.Marisa, do you know?is much more PAINFUL.More than having nothing at all, to lose all you have after you gain it,
