Very easy illusionary trap.
In the wild, yukkuri have their ways with coping with almost all natural threats. From wild animals to predator yus threats abound and only the fittest or luckiest yukkuri survive.
One way of ensuring their survival is that some yukkuri would not hesitate on taking it easy on taking it easy. This simply means they would willingly endure some hardship in order relax a little in the future or at least their family does.
We have here an odd nest. Inside a Raiko and a Yatsuhashi lives. The Raiko is pregnant with a Yuuka and a Raiko and is currently eating the spoils of its sister's (Yatsuhashi) hunt.
Yatsuhashi employs an ingenious method of catching creatures it normally could not as prey.
Yatsuhashi learned this method from her sister's now dead husband Yuuka. And it is simply to lure unsuspecting predators into the very narrow passage going into the nest hole to be stabbed with a chemically coated sharp stick.
As for what the chemical is we do not know yet but it seems to be a concoction of herbs that causes paralysis of limbs for animals and complete sedation for yukkuris.
So far Yatsuhashi has already employed this method once this morning and a unlucky Remilia met its demise to several jabs of the poisoned stick.
Raiko is happy that she gets to eat several big meals for the day but she wishes her husband Yuuka was still alive with them and had not died to a fight with a family of Flans in the search for better seeds for her "Garden".
Yatsuhashi's confidence skyrocketed ever since her third kill and now she'll add this Alice to the list of her victims. Perhaps she does not really need to hunt more as the Remilia would be more than enough until the next day but with each kill she started to enjoy the act of killing itself.
Yatsuhashi has figured the science to this very easy illusionary trap of pretending to be a helpless yukkuri. She draws the victim's attention, quickly dive into the nest through a passageway just enough for one adult yukkuri to pass through and get the stick with the concoction to stab the victim.
We do not really know just how much of the concoction is left but Yatsuhashi does not seem to run out of it.
With the ideally made nest built by Yuuka complete with a small water storage pond, solid dried mud walls with space for 5 adult yukkuri, food storage and the small garden nearby. Raiko and her babies are sure to thrive with Yatsuhashi around to lend assistance.
Of course it is not unusual for yukkuris to mate with their littermate but so far Raiko and Yatsuhashi are really taking it easy with each other.
And we hope it continues that way. Take it easy.
