It's youmu's colors though -_- and I did not put a border on the text because it would ruin the magazine look I am after.
The only slightly difficult part is the "is your mate hiding sweet sweets from you?" and that's only because the yellow and the off white part of youmu's vest blends.
I know that this is only a parody, but there are a lot of details involved when composing a magazine cover.
First, we have the dimensions. Typically, magazines are in portrait orientation.
There must also be a balance between the subject and text. Keep the overlapping text to a minimum. However, as many of us know, some issues of many notable magazines have the subject overlap a portion of the title. Text on single lines spanning across the cover and overlapping the subject can make the cover look ugly. Wrapping text in select spaces will substantially improve the look. Perhaps adding shadow to the text could make it more readable.
You have the right idea of using Youmu's color scheme. Yes, color scheme is very important, but don't let value make you feel completely restricted. Don't be afraid to experiment with a color's brightness/darkness (value). You can do so for an idea of a background gradient, too. However, depending on subject matter, using more than two or three hues within a scheme can often detract. As for the non-title text, I personally would use white with black shadow.

That would actually be a portrait orientation....for a yukkuri.
Their anatomy is such that they often have wide eyes and wide bodies.
The magazine would actually be like those mini magazines that used to be a trend around the late 2000 like kzone and others.
I agree with the layout though. It is atrocious >_>
