In natural ambients, water takes a long time to become ice, and I doubt a yu would remain outside of the cold for that long, specially while floating on water.
I really get the feeling the anko will be a hilarious story of "HOW THE FUCK IT GOT THERE!?" style with some sort of yu-impossible scenario.
A lost marisa was sleeping, but her hat flew off and landed on the puddle, it froze, and now the marisa is desperately trying to get it, but then the marisa got stuck on the ice.
The Great Will of the Universe frowns upon yukkuri.
The little Marisa is a pet who doesn’t listen. Her owner can’t handle her anymore so he gave her lime and throw her away to the pond in lake.
Marisa tried thinking she doesn’t need her owner anymore and will take on the world.
But the water is freezing. She tried rowing but it’s of no use. Marisa starts crying. Then a passerby told her the water is frozen to she could stand on it. Then the passerby go away. Marisa jumped on the ice, but it’s cold and her feet is stuck. She starts crying again because of the pain.
The sun rise and ice starts melting. Marisa died in water while reflecting on her life.
She’s born in pet shop, received her training, and bought by a loving owner before getting thrown away. But Marisa doesn’t like the rules and even bite her owner as well as ruining the house. Sadly, the owner throw away this Marisa. Marisa realized too late that she’s wrong. Now nobody will help her.
Thanks for the summary Salem, it sounds like the ice was made faster than usual, that, or Marisa was in the center of the lake or something and couldn't get to the shore in time.
Also the story is kinda aesopish, don't be an ass and follow the rules, or something bad happens, very traditional.
I read a little bit from the anko link posted before.
at the beggining komarisa-sama ask where she is, then she blames bully mister water, later asks help from a mister human, goes down her hat after the mister humans advise, gets frozen, blames bully mister water again... at the end she just keeps apologizing.
so marisa did woke up there, guessing from the sumary, mister human left it there while glorious Yukkuri was sleeping.

Maybe early winter. The ice is strong enough to hold a koyukkuri in the early morning, but as sun rises into a bright clear day, the ice melt quick enough under that Marisa's weight.
But I never had any winter in my whole life. It's hot and wet around here.
IIRC, there's another anko where the yukkuri realized they can move faster on frozen land by rolling on their side instead of depending on their feet.
Yeah, I also can't say much about such facts of winter, since in my place, winter lacks ice and snow. I'm accustomed to the documentals and stuff on which "when the river is frozen it remains like that until winter ends" not of this "half assed" freezings, like the one you mentioned.
I happen to live in a place where there is sometimes funky weather.
I could certainly see the above scenario happening here, as sometimes in early fall, or early-mid spring here, it will drop below freezing at night then rise above it by a decent amount during the day.
FYI, I live in Colorado springs, right in the shadow of pikes peak. We get some weird weather sometimes. I.E. My dad has a video of it blizzarding in the morning, and (young)me sledding while its bright, sunny, and WARM that afternoon.
