Summary:

Just by the end of summer, a hunting season begin. This is not a hunt for birds or animals.

The reason of this hunting is because of the autumn season. Autumn is a bountiful harvest season. But by this time, yukkuri also hunt for their winter preparation and especially Marisa types like to eat the precious wild mushrooms.

This group of hunter checked their first trap. Mushroom tend to grow in the same place so it's not difficult to know where to set them up.

A Reimu is caught in bear trap while her husband Marisa and two Koyukkuri is trapped in net.
When seeing the hunter tore Reimu's braid, a KoMarisa jumps out of the bush. The man catch this KoMarisa and put her in bag for feed back in town. Inside the same bush is two other KoReimu, which judging from the family's reaction, is the last of their children.

The man pick the other two koyukkuri then stab Marisa, pinning her to the grown.
Reimu is treated the same. Their death stench will serve to keep other yukkuri away.

Their second stop is a trap hole made from buried drum tank. The yukkuri inside all look weak.
One of the hunter put in mould and vanilla beans. The sweet smell lure them in, while the mould has now penetrated into their body. The yukkuri is already beyond any help.

With stick, one of the hunter crush the yukkuri into paste, then this very sweet death stench filled paste is spread to the bush around, driving out yukkuri who's watching their families in worry. They too got thrown into the tank and crushed.

One of the hunter then take out a mushroom and mix it into a bucket filled with water and vanilla beans. The mushroom is very poisonous, he had to stop his curious friend from touching it.

First he spread a little into one nest hole. From inside, a Marisa jumps out in pain. Her families came and do lick lick, the only thing yukkuri can do to ease their own kind's suffering.
Of course, even human will get burned if they touch Marisa who's covered in poison. Yukkuri who licked Marisa stopped moving in an instant.

A forest rat went for a bite of the dead yukkuri, but it too stopped moving after a few steps and collapsed with foaming mouth.
This mushroom caused inflammation when touching skin and ingested could act as neural poison. This is too dangerous so they decided to just bury it in thr ground before leaving. It's too dangerous to bring it back with them.

A group of yukkuri saw the human and quickly run to warn their clan, but human managed to splash one of the Marisa. Again, it screamed in pain and her friends who give her lick lick also dies.

The clan is close to a place where many mushroom are often harvested. Into the nest, they splashed a little of the poison and again, the yukkuri all falls into victim while the human is still amazed by how strong the poison is.
Next time, they need a poison that only works on yukkuri. Maybe the Factory already has one, or they can do research on it.

To keep wild animals out of danger, they dig a hole to dispose the yukkuri and what's left of the poison. All of those are buried so no wild animal would accidentally ingested the poison.

Back in civilization, Factory finally develop a yukkuri poison. The product is well accepted by farming villages especially.

It's made from crushed chilli and only cause irritation when coming in contact with human skin.
