anko3461: Born a Yukkuri
ゆっくりに生まれて
Summary by platina:
A happy stray Reimu-Marisa couple and their little Reimu live contentedly in a cardboard box in the park. Marisa goes out hunting, and Reimu takes little Reimu outside to play and learn. Mother Reimu explains to her child that humans are pathetic creatures who can’t take it easy, and who hoard all the sweet-sweets and try to make yukkuris’ lives more difficult because they’re envious and jealous of yukkuris’ ability to take it easy.
Overhearing her, an Anon laughs and says that humans don’t want to be yukkuris, humans can take it much more easy. They don’t believe him, so he asks them how they take it easy. Little Reimu has a soft bed of shredded cardboard? Anon lets her feel the much softer hand towel that he carries around simply to wipe up messes. Their big, comfortable box house can withstand wind and rain? Anon points to a nearby high-rise and tells them that in human homes, you can’t even tell it’s raining, plus they’re warm and full of soft things. They can eat delicious food? Anon gives them a piece of his leftover donut, which is more delicious than anything they’ve ever eaten in their lives.
As he leaves, Anon gives them the towel and donut, saying, “Well, since you guys can’t take it easy, this almighty mister human will bestow these on you. So long--and keep trying to take it easy while being envious of humans!” The yukkuris stare at the donut with dead eyes. Little Reimu rubs against the towel and stares longingly at the building, wishing she could live there. Eventually, Mother Reimu carries her back to their cardboard house in the weeds, and the author doesn’t know what happened to them after that.
