Story starts with a single Anon climbing a mountain. When he reaches the place where a clan of yukkuris are, they immediately start screaming at him... for him to kill them, even the Dosu, going so far as to call themselves scum. He goes around checking for dead ones; finding a dead Alice, he grabs its corpse and forces the Dosu to eat it. Then he sprays orange juice on the remainder, reviving some of those who were close to death. They are in despair over that, though, but Anon simply leaves. None of the yukkuri chase after him, despite their feet being unharmed. But their feet aren't even touching the ground.
In the past, Dosu was happily watching parents presenting their little ones. A Patchouli who initially stopped the clan from refreshing too much was gone, and Dosu made the decision to ignore her uneasy warnings as it concludes Patchouli was scum. Dosu later gets a report that there's been a lack of food lately, but no one knows why.
Dosu recalls the past Dosu saying the humans gave them vegetables before, but conveniently forgets the same Dosu saying they should be grateful to humans, thinking that the uneasy humans should serve the easy yukkuris. Thinking it will be fine, Dosu goes down the mountain to look for humans.
Two days later, Dosu still isn't back. The sub leader Reimu doesn't know much about humans, but if she was a bit smarter, she might understand why, as well as why they shouldn't refresh so much. This clan has transformed the meaning of 'take it easy' to 'let us yukkuris take it easy', and thus they consider themselves the only easy ones.
Having heard a report that many humans are coming, Reimu thought that they've brought food, and went to meet them. However, the humans were displeased that the clan has increased in size. Misunderstanding, the yukkuris assumed that the humans are uneasy beings who don't understand the easiness of the little ones, and mocked them. Then the human in charge asked if Sub-leader Reimu remembers the restriction on refreshing that the past Dosu imposed, saying that they disobeyed the past Dosu.
However, Reimu could only recall the easiness of the little ones that came about with the current Dosu's command, and announced her conclusion that the past Dosu was scum. The rest of the clan followed its thinking, and agreed that the past Dosu was scum.
The human laughed, and asked Reimu one final question: Is the current Dosu easy? Even if it's hurt...? EVEN IF ITS HAIR WAS SHAVED? That's when Reimu's paste brain finally sensed something wrong about his smile. He followed with more questions: Being beaten? Penipeni chopped off? Teeth pulled out? Anyaru and mamumamu stuffed up?
He snapped his fingers, and the humans behind him pulled the sheet off the 'thing' they had with them. It took a while, but the clan finally realized that the thing begging for mercy was their Dosu, and they scream in shock. Dosu had thick poles piercing it from the bottom of its feet to emerge from the top of its head. The lead human kicked Reimu away, and gave the order to begin.
If the yukkuris had ran back then, some of them might have escaped, but without Dosu or their sub-leader Reimu, they received no orders. The yukkuris are put to sleep by lemon spray, with the lead human keeping Reimu for the last so it can see everything. Reimu screamed when it realized that every single yukkuri were being impaled on stakes, and some of them wake up to suffering.
The human reminded Reimu of the previous Dosu's restriction, and told it that humans are the masters of the mountain they were living on. In exchange for Dosu maintaining the clan numbers, the humans would give sweets to treat any sick yukkuris, and Reimu recalled that. He continued talking about how that Dosu did all she could to let the clan take it easy despite the difficulties, asking help for humans and such, and how the clan mourned when that Dosu died, then he grimly asked Reimu what did it call the Dosu just now... Their act of forgetting what the past Dosu did for them... was an unforgiveable crime.
The impaling continued, with some koyukkuris screaming as they are placed onto the stakes, some of them protesting, others trying to puff the relentless humans away. When it finally came to the baby yukkuris, Dosu and Reimu plead, but get ignored. Eventually, all three hundred yukkuris were impaled, some stakes having as many as three yukkuris. The human tells Dosu that this was because of her stupidity, that it never learnt a thing from the previous Dosu. Before he left, he said that they'll give the yukkuris food and protection just like they wanted, but they won't be able to move.
And so, two months passed. When it rained, the humans would cover the clan with a waterproof sheet, though some of the young were eaten by ants before insecticide sprays were used. Those who made claims of 'can't take it easy' were given an anti-yukkuritis cream, tasteless so they have nothing to look forward to. As long as they don't vomit out a majority of their paste, they'll continue to suffer pain without dying.
Without the possibility of rub-rub or sleep-sleep, one Koreimu went berserk one day, and its mother did its best to go to it, only to rip itself off their stakes and die. The human who came by to check told the koyukkuri that if it hadn't been so selfish, its mother wouldn't have died, and Koreimu goes quietly insane with yukkuritis.
The rest of the clan continued to beg for death, unable to ever take it easy. But the human just told them that another clan would eventually move in, and teaching them the hierachy would be troublesome. Compared to 'anger', 'punishment', or 'revenge', that reason wounds them more than any other. But it's the FATAL truth.
"We'll cover every one of you during the rainy season. We'll chase away any Remiryas. We'll keep your warm enough to live during the winter, but not enough to sleep. You yukkuris are fortunate for wild yukkuris. You'll be able to take it easy until you die naturally!"
Laughing, the human leaves.
In another place, a small clan headed by Patchouli has heard about the place where even a Dosu begs for death. Some say that it was done by an Eiki for going against humans, others say it was done by a human in white called 'Professor', but all are scared. Patchouli tells them to stop talking about it, but doesn't want to imagine if the 'Professor' is the same one she knows.
A legend has spread amongst travelling yukkuris: There is a mountain which looks good for taking it easy, but that place is filled with yukkuris who are undergoing hell. They beg the demon who observes them to kill them, but their wishes go unheard, and they'll suffer for eternity.
