What if they don't grow by themselves ?

Summary:

Anon is tilling the barren land while yukkuri laughed at him for being so stupid and uneasy.

He used to be a salaryman in the city, but after his parents passed away, he inherited their land. Because they're old, they have stopped their work, but the barren land used to be a farm.

He has decided to quit his office work and become a farmer despite his friends and colleagues trying to stop him.

First thing he do is to make a deal. There's a clan of wild yukkuri lead by a Dosu in the forest. The clan had a deal with the village where the villagers will share food with them.

Anon noticed when going to the clan, there's quite some scum quality, but they're smart enough to not look for trouble with the human village.

The deal with Dosu is as follow. Anon will make the barren land with three Cedar trees west of the mountain into his easy place where vegetables will grow. He will do a house declaration there and any yukkuri he found tresspassing will be exterminated.

The clan laughed at him for being stupid. Vegetables just grow by their own, but that barren land is a very uneasy place. Not even grass will grow there.
Dosu and the clan accepted the deal and even stated that they're not interested at all to take the land.

Anon recorded all that in video. In the future, he had proof even if they say they don't remember anything about the deal.

Ever since the deal, the man has been shoveling the soil everyday. Meanwhile, the wild yukkuri came to insult him for being so uneasy. Because they only look from the mountain, it's not against their deal with the village. They also don't disturb the man's work. Later, coming to insult the hard working human has become a stress relieving activity for hunting yukkuri.

For the yukkuri, they hold their belief that Mister Vegetables will grow from easy Mister Soil for the sake of the easy Yukkuri.
Humans are barbarians who's only strong but stupid. They're all uneasy, but very strong. And with that strength, humans hogs all the easy things.

Dosu still think she can defeat human easily, but she think the yukkuri should save face for the human and borrowed them the easy place under the mountain. But by lending all those lands, is she being too kind ?
This is how yukkuri see it. This way, they don't have to accept that they're chased into the mountain or about how human is above yukkuri. Of course, as long as the yukkuri don't speak that out in front of them, the humans don't really care whatever delusion they have.

One day, a Koreimu came to insult the human. She stands next to him in work. So the man take a rest and ask back to the Koreimu.
"Why do you say vegetables won't grow here ?"
"Because everyone in the clan say so! Daddy and Mommy also said Mister Human is stupid!"
"Do they know why vegetables wont grow ?"
"...yu?"
"Have they ever tried spending efforts here and yet vegetables still wont grow ?"
"No need to try... everyone know there's no way they will grow!"
"So you just decided it as it is ? I don't take that kind of beliefs."
"Are you stupid!? Want to die!? Mister Vegetables just grow..."
"There's also a lot of humans who think like that, but deciding what they can't do so easily is yukkuri's bad nature."
"Yu?"
"Why do you decide something is impossible from the beginning ? It's still possible that vegetables will grow here."
"But Mister Human is being uneasy everyday. Why do uneasy things ?"
"Because doing field job made me feel easy."
"...yu?"
"I will decide if it's impossible when I'm satisfied! So don't disturb my easyness."
"Understood easy! Mister Human is really an idiot"
"Enough with that. Go back to the mountain or I will crush you for breaking the agreement."
"No need to tell that. Reimyu don't want to come to this uneasy place anymore! Idiot idiot! Drop dead easy!"

First thing before planting is tilling the soil. That's why every day the man worked hard and the yukkuri insult him.

A year passed, and a Chen runs in hurry to the clan's meeting place. She saw something amazing and bring the whole clan to see it too.

There, at the west side of the mountain, is a farm, easy place with a lot of vegetables.
Seeing such an easy place, all the yukkuri hurried to take them. But Chen stopped them all, she still have something to show.

The three Cedar trees that marked the used to be barren land west of the mountain.

The yukkuri don't remember well, but the recall coming here everyday before hiding from winter to do something easy. Yes, they came to insult a stupid human who said he's going to make vegetables in the barren land.

Seeing the man coming out and do his job, the yukkuri understand that this human had made the barren land into an easy place with his own strength.

But yukkuri don't want to accept this reality. They said it themselves, there's no way vegetables will grow in that uneasy place.

A Koreimu asked her mother, why is there an easy place with many very easy Mister Vegetable there. Is mommy lying ?
Panicked, Reimu called her daughter a scum who dare call her own mother a liar and slammed it. Of course the clan quickly helped the Koreimu.
Koreimu is not calling her mother a liar, she's just asking.
Reimu asked back to the clan, do they accept that fact ?

Mister Vegetable just grow on its own to let yukkuri take it easy.

That's their core belief.
There's no way they will belief human can make vegetables grow with hard work. Besides, no matter how hard human tried teaching them agriculture, it's useless because farm work is a very uneasy hard physical labour. They belief in having it easy.

That's why they belief "Mister Vegetable grow by itself" without needing any of those hard works.
Vegetables are there for everyone, and the uneasy Mister Human is "unfair" for hogging all the vegetables.
Because the vegetables is for everyone, they entered the farm and steal. No matter how many of them are tortured or killed, yukkuri doesn't care. They do the right thing and Mister Human who hogs all the vegetables are the bad guys.

Of course, even in the agreement where the village shared their vegetables, the yukkuri still can't accept the idea that all vegetables growing in the village is human's. But they have to pretend in order to avoid being exterminated.

But right now in front of their own eyes. They know the place is an uneasy land where not even grass will grow. But somehow, the human has made them grow there.
"Mister vegetable who grow by itself is everyone's. That's why yukkuri have a right to eat it. Mister Human who hogs all the vegetables are bad!"
No, this Mister Vegetable don't grow by itself.

Even without knowing agriculture, even in their ideals, they remember. Every day they ridiculed the hard working man. But now, he has changed the barren land into an easy place with his own effort, and thus all the vegetables are his.

Every yukkuri believe themselves as justice, or victim. They don't want to be the uneasy bad guy. Right, even rapers, deibu, scum, thiefs, all live in their own self-righteousness. But stealing vegetables from easy place the human make with his own effort... no yukkuri have any excuse other than they're the bad guy.

All the yukkuri want to eat the vegetable, but nobody dare to go because it's uneasy to steal. They asked Dosu and the advisor Patchouli.

Patchouli suggested going to the field and do house declaration. But the yukkuri still remembers. That human has came to Dosu to announce his home declaration. All the clan accepted the fact so that place is human's easy place. Vegetables also can't grow on that barren land until the human came.

In the uproar, there's angry voice from the younger yukkuri. They have married and have children, but they're still Koyukkuri when the human came to this land. Their parents taught them to not become uneasy like the human.
Now, the human are surrounded by the very easy vegetables.
These young yukkuri blamed their parents, Dosu and the rest of the clan for letting this happen. There's a lot of vegetables in front of them and yet they can't touch any of it.

Yukkuri's nature are selfish. They don't want to be wrong. Because they can't deny the fact that those vegetables don't grow on their own, they need another villain to blame. That villain is "the previous generation who lied to them".

A conflict started between the generations. Finally Dosu snaps off when advisor Patchouli is killed. She jumped and crushed all the clan yukkuri.

But Dosu is also a yukkuri. She doesn't want to take the blame so she attacked the human. She jumped down the hill, but lost her step and rolls down the steep hill, hitting stone, tree and branches until she's stuck to a big tree.

Her hat is gone so she can't do Dosu Spark. Even if she could, the tree is behind her back so she can't do anything.

Instead of help, ants came to take the paste leaking from her wounds, taking her life slowly as she feel the pain.

Even after a year, the farm is still not ready to be harvested yet. The man thought about having a Yuuka-nyan, but for now, he continued his work silently.
