Winter in the park. A Komarisa is alone, doing her hunting.
Few days ago, Maricha's parents died because they picked a fight against human. Maricha had a quiet personality so the human let her go.
Even so, she's a stray, and life of a stray is difficult. Moreover, this is the winter, a very difficult season for yukkuri.
For the last few days, Maricha survived on the food left by her parents, but that has also runs out. Now she had to do hunting on her own.
There's no food. Dumping site has been protected from yukkuri, so all the strays falls back to taking all edible grasses they can find. Maricha didn't understand it yet, but she just know from the engraved memories that Marisa types are best in hunting, so she can't understand why Mister Food doesn't came out.
Facing the cold wind, Maricha given up and returned to the house where she had a lot of warm memories with her parents. But there's no one else in that cardboard house. Yukkuri is a creature that's weak against loneliness, but Maricha is now all alone.
The cold wind blew stronger. Recently, although the weather is cold, there's no wind so Maricha can still stand up. But now, the cold wind bites into her body.
Maricha begged the wind, but it just blew stronger. Maricha's hat that's most important in her life got blown away.
It's not just her. Across the park, many yukkuri cries because their accessories are blown away by the wind, especially Marisa types.
Maricha decided she will not go out anymore. She just try to sleep alone in her house. That's when a human came.
Still traumatized by how her parents are killed, Maricha choose her words carefully. If she still have her parents and hat, she might still be able to feel strong, but she has none of those left.
The human said he's lonely in Christmas Eve, so he wanted a company. He offered a strawberry to Maricha. But the strawberry is not for free, he wanted a barter.
Maricha don't have anything.
What about the wonderful braid Maricha has ?
Maricha doesn't want to give her braid. She already lost her hat, she doesn't want to give away her braid.
Even so, she lost to the temptation from the man. She's very hungry, if she could eat the strawberry, she could feel easy. Her paste brain choosed that short easyness.
The man pulled off Maricha's braid slowly, prolonging the pain. After taking it off, he gave Maricha the strawberry and enjoyed Maricha's expression which is a mix of happyness from taste she never tasted before and the sorrow of losing the hat and braid that's more precious than her life.
The man left for home.
That night is the coldest night in winter. Maricha shivers in her home alone. There's no adult to close the lid of her home to keep the wind away. She has also lost everything, she had no more will to face tomorrow.
Thanks to the strawberry, Marisa doesn't die quickly, torturing her even more as she heard happy voices from Christmas party.
Snow falls, and finally Maricha is frozen to death.
