On the riverbed is a dirty cardboard. Inside it, a KoMarisa is sleeping, wrapped in dirty towel. Her face is so cute that both lovers and abyusers would fell into a smile, for their own reasons.
From outside, a Reimu came back to her home and little one. She do lick lick and rub rub with her dearest daughter after leaving to hunt.
Marisa has just grow into a koyukkuri and stopped slurring like baby, so she asked her mother to stop treating her like that. In truth though, she enjoyed this skinship because it's the small happyness that strays like them can have in their harsh life.
Reimu opened the lid of a plastic tray she put on her head. Today's bounty are grasses and piece of bean paste bread she picked up on the road. The bread is for her dearest daughter.
Marisa also wanted to show something. Today, she went for a walk along the riverbed and she found blue flowers. Marisa filled the flowers into her hat and present it to her mother as the result of her first hunt.
Reimu is happy and praised Marisa for being great hunter, but she also warned Marisa. When going outside, Marisa must always be careful because human are dangerous. Also, Marisa should never enter human's place or take flowers from the planters or human's house.
After that, both of them eat their meal, exclaiming happyness! For stray, both of them don't scatter their food as they eat. Reimu's wish is for her daughter to be pet yukkuri.
Reimu used to be part of a clan in the park. Here, an ex-gold badge Patchouli often told stories about pet yukkuri life and Reimu idolized that life.
One day, when going to picnic with her lover Marisa, both of them survived an extermination. By Marisa's suggestion they married and stay by the riverbed. Reimu used to have lots of children, but now only this Marisa is left.
Her husband Marisa also never came home again after going hunting, so Reimu believed her husband must've been killed by human.
She wished that Marisa can be a pet, so she won't have to worry about food, shelter or being afraid of human anymore. For that purpose, she taught Marisa the basic of pet yukkuri as she understand from Patchouli's story. Some of it are about keeping themselves clean, eating with manner and about using the toilet.
After eating, Reimu sing and Marisa fell to sleep.
Without Marisa noticing, Reimu walks out to the dangerous night. Her target is an Alice who has been staying in the same place ever since afternoon. Reimu quickly identify Alice as an abandoned yukkuri, likely still not realizing her situation.
From that Alice, Reimu robbed the gold badge and tore piece of Alice's hairband in the process. Being a shop born yukkuri, Alice has no experience or stamina to fight and chase Reimu to take back both her badge and the two piece of chocolate left for her.
In the morning, Reimu treated her daughter with the chocolate and then bring Marisa to bath in the river, carefully holding Marisa's braid so she doesn't fell down.
After a short parting, Reimu slammed Marisa to the street, pretending that she's about to rob the badge from a pet koyukkuri.
Marisa doesn't understand what Reimu is doing so she can only cry.
Reimu do this because she can't put the badge to Marisa's hat, she doesn't have the fingers needed to do that. So instead she want to make it looks like a scum stray has torn off the badge from her daughter.
The trick works. A passerby kicked and stepped on Reimu. Even as Reimu sweated profusely (because yukkuri are bad at lying), the man just thought Reimu is in pain.
When brought to the animal centre, the worker checked Marisa's badge. He then returned and asked where Marisa got her badge from.
Marisa answered that she got the badge from her mother. Then, the worker understand the situation.
The owner of the badge, Alice, has been abandoned by her owner. She's avoiding responsibility totally and use the chance to say that her Alice has been missing and must've been killed by a stray Marisa. For that, she's not going to pay any fee including for the disposal.
Reimu, is not stupid. She has seen many strays trying to appeal themselves so she understand just having the badge is not enough. Too bad that yukkuri can't attach the badge to their own accessories, so Reimu had to try another way.
She had seen pet yukkuri rescued by human, so Reimu made a play where she's attacking her daughter like scum attacking a pet. She understand well that the stray will end up dead, but for a better life for her daughter, she will take the risk.
The worker feel sorry to Marisa, so he attached the badge and put Marisa together with the other pet yukkuri in the animal centre. These are abandoned pets ready to be disposed today after nobody came to claim them back or adopt them.
They're brought to the Factory's incinerator.
All the abandoned pets scream, they don't want to die. Only KoMarisa is different. She found the body of her mother (the yukkuri disposal garbage bin is also incinerated here) and is very happy to finally fulfil her promise.
Marisa believed she's already a pet when human attached the badge to her. Now, she's back to her beloved mother.
While all the yukkuri died in agony, only Marisa died with a satisfied expression.
