Patchouli is the chief of a forest yukkuri clan. Right now she's troubled by the coming winter, the event where many yukkuri would fail and die.

Patchouli visited the Marisas to ask for food to be stocked into the clan's food storage. She's ready to beg for their help, but the Marisa give the result of their hunting, saying it's nothing.

Then, while Patchouli doesn't know how other clan do hibernation, her clan is split into groups of several families and they hibernate together in large communal nest hole.
Patchouli remembered that when she's still young, the place looks so barren. But now the Alices are decorating the room and it looks more bright than before. She meant to thank them, but they told Patchouli that they do it because they're enjoying it.

Barriers are also done, by the Myons. Again, they turn down Patchouli's gratefulness, telling her that they just do it while doing their regular patrol.

Seeing everyone take their part, Patchouli felt bad for being unable to do anything.

Then a panicked voice called Patchouli. It's Reimu, and she's pushing Patchouli to go to her house for an urgent matter. Her little one is in trouble.

Patchouli know Reimu has one Reimyu in the house, but she didn't see any, until Myon point out a small greenish ball in the corner. The view made Patchouli feel even more sick than when Reimu forced her to run. That koyukkuri has been infected by mold.

Reimu is panicked and ask Patchouli to heal her little one because this is her last child.

Patchouli thinked back. She feel bad for it, but Reimu's husband Marisa is a scum. She took her Marisa children to hunt, picked a fight with human and ends up getting crushed. After that Patchouli shared food from the storage to Reimu, but she regretted not monitoring the family closer.

There's no death stench, which means the child is not dead yet. In this situation there's only one solution: be merciful and let the child take it easy forever, releasing her from suffering.

Patchouli stopped Myon, taking over the role as bad yu. She told Reimu to let the little one take it easy forever.

Unfortunately Reimu can't accept this. She do body blow several times to Patchouli until Myon stopped her. After that, Reimu is exiled from the clan because a mold infected yukkuri will be a threat to the clan.

Time passed and Patchouli still regretted her decision. She visited Reimu's easy place, but the place is abandoned already.

Then, on another day, Myon run to report a breaking to the food storage. Together with Patchouli, Myon smell death stench and they know what to expect.

Inside, Reimu is with her already dead child. Her own body is half consumed by mold already.

Right now, Patchouli is regretting her carelessness. She should have made sure Reimu is exiled out of the clan's territory.

Reimu is eating the food and claim the food storage as her easy place. She refused to obey the rule because she's no longer part of the clan.

Myon used her Hakurouken to stab Reimu, giving punishment. But before Reimu died, she run inside the food storage and vomitted her paste.

Reimu glared to both Patchouli and Myon, reminding them that these food are no longer edible, else everyone will get infected and die. It must be a real trouble because winter is already so close.

Myon lost her sword, but Patchouli can find replacement.
The bigger problem now is that they have lost all their food for winter.
