Marisa Game Translation Project Reboot

I started working on the adult Marisa file, after that I'll take the lines and slur them to fill the komarisa file.
It is a bit of work, I probably will leave out some lines (where I'm not sure how to translate) but lines like "Marisa's poo-poo has obtained wings noze!" make it really worthwhile. I'll probably post a part of it next week.

For consistency you should probably just take whatever lines are already translated for the komarisa and deslur them instead of translating the adult lines from scratch. That leaves it so you only really need to translate the new lines.

Also I noticed there's a new folder in the adult Marisa text folder in 1.90 that contains an alternate version of the script that is virtually identical other than the removal of a (duplicate?) block of text about poo poo and the fixing of a typo. Maybe someone who can read the dev blog post could team me what's up with this, because Google translate is hilariously terrible when it comes to anything Yukkuri related.

1.91 adds a few lines about how Maricha will refuse direct feeding if she's full.
1.92 is just bugfixes.

Dev says he's going to try to add multiple Yukkuris in one room in the next update, but it might take longer than usual to release because of it. Or at least I think he said multiple Yukkuris, I don't know what 複数飼い means.

You're on the right track. 複数 (fukusuu) means "multiple", and 飼い (kai) has to do with domesticating, taming, herding, etc.

Hello
I've been lurking this place for a while, also looking for progresses of this game and its translation
Since the translation was taking it easy while the author released new versions, I decided to try my hands at making it myself (the ko's part at least)
I started to edit the one provided by GNU/Hurdz, but at some point I noticed (don't remember how), that some sentences were different, for example they lacked the name placeholders, or they used completely different words, so I ended up rewriting it almost from scratch
In the end I didn't really finish it, because there are many dialogues I don't really know the meaning of, but compared to the currently available translation, adding to it is definitely a less daunting task, and it should be easier for someone with a better knoweledge of japanese than me to complete it
This is the download link: https://u.nya.is/cytphr.zip
Some notes:
Many sentences are repeated all over the place, so if you edit it, doing a global search and replace will help
Some sentences don't really work well in english, but they would require a name placeholder, and since I don't know if adding them will always work, I opted to keep the sentence without them
There is one sentece which says "ゆうっしゅうな 【一人称】が おといれしゃん いがいで うんうん しゅりゅわけ ないのじぇ!", that has been translated as "Dere'sh no way da excellent 【一人称】 will do poo poo except for in mishter toilet!"
The thing is, this dialogue is used only when you tell her to carry her poo and she refuses, which can only happen when she doesn't do poo poo in mister toilet, which is kind of contradictory
Since I couldn't figure out the actual meaning, I left it in japanese (well, I translated "ゆうっしゅうな" to "Da excellent"...)
The adult dialogues are still in japanese, and the ko's dialogues should not be used as a base for the adult's ones, as there is a number of sentences that are different between the two

Good job, EasyV. I read through it and it looks like you translated a decent amount. You even got the new text that was in 1.91. Yeah, when I was copying the translation over from the old project I noticed a few of the syntax and grammar structures were a bit inconsistent (losing and gaining name placeholders, etc). I figure that's because there were so many different contributors, each with varying grasps of the Japanese language. One minor thing I'd like to point out is that in your folder, the folder that had a Japanese name instead had gibberish unicode. This usually happens when you extract a Japanese file but aren't using a Japanese locale on your Windows. It's not an issue now, but its just something to keep in mind in the future. Another thing I should point out (also to whoever is planning to tackle this in the future) is that it's generally better to use the Japanese "punctuation marks" like !, ?, and ~ over the normal ones like !, ?, and ~. Reason being that the font that the game uses renders the former marks so much better and causes less of a chance of the text bubble being cut off.

There is also the chance the text has been changed between releases
I didn't check because it's not really important

I noticed that too, but since the gibberish is for a folder containing a copy of the adult marisa dialogues, I didn't bother
I don't use Windows, I play it through wine, hopefully de/compressing it properly will just be a matter of setting LANG (I need to do that to play the game)

I'm pretty sure I used the wave dash instead of ~, but I don't really remember, maybe I used ~ without thinking
About the ! and ?, I thought that since they are not wide characters, they'd take less space and thus the text would be less cut off, but I guess it was an incorrect assumption

So I tried installing your translation. From a clean install, your translation does not work. However, if I install my translation (which works from a clean install), open up the ko script, and copy and paste your script into my .txt, then it works. This is on Beta 1.00 on Windows 10 with Jap locale. It's probably a problem coming from your Wine compression process then.

Updated

I think the issue was with the locale when compressing into the zip
All I do to translate is edit the files inside "text", then run the game, and it works
I tried making a new archive, but this time under the japanese locale, so hopefully now it'll work as is
I also changed the ! and ? to the full width variants (as in the original), fixed a couple of typos and adding some translated lines to the adult yukkuri file

Now it works out of the box. Good job. The Japanese folder still has a gibberish name and there's still a typo on ma_aka_ea_s_kyozetu_namagomi_gesu where it says "jr" instead of "je", but none of those are important problems. I just wish the Yukkuri fandom wasn't so dead, so we could have some of the old guard who were very familiar with Yukkuri vernacular actively contributing just like the beginning of this thread. http://yukkuri.shii.org/posts/61173 shows that they somehow managed to get the UI text translated, which is something I have not managed to figure out yet.

Updated

Version beta 1.01 has been released
It's only bug fixes, the text is the same
I added a couple of translated lines to the adult Marisa dialogues, and began working on the manual
Right now I've only covered the introduction and food
I can't really read all those kanjis, and for the most part it was machine-translated, so there are parts either left in japanese, or marked as (???) when I couldn't figure them out
Unfortunately the manual was written for version 1.59, so things are missing, but it should still help as a quickstart guide
Download link: https://u.nya.is/bljfyn.zip
By the way, it seems I can't really do anything about the gibberish folder, I don't even know what is the cause, hopefully it won't affect the game...

Sorry for being so inactive lately, but mister work doesn't let me take it easy. Anyway, here is what I did when I had a while (based on last post by EasyV). http://www25.zippyshare.com/v/QNRspUCO/file.html. Added/edited some lines for Maricha, did some more for the adult one. I'll resume working on it (an uploading stuf here in general) next week.

That's great!
Though if I can make a note, compared to the other translated lines (I mean those I based my work on), yours are a bit too slurred, sometimes they even are quite the mouthful
Also, they are kind of heavy on the "ch"/"sh", while the others had some "d" or "j", like "don't" was slurred as "don'd"
It's mostly that they feel a bit out of place to me, we should decide on some style guide to keep it coherent
Another thing is that the "da je", "nanoje", etc were shortened in just "je" and "no je" respectively (and I kept it for the adult dialogues)
I suggest using the short version since it keeps the whole dialogue, well, short, and avoids having the text going too far out the black bubble (and you don't want white text on almost-white background...)

Personally I'm actually in favor of using "da je", etc, instead of just "je", it doesn't really take up too much space and it's more accurate to the original text. The translation (Yuno's latest) really does need some editing though, some of the name placeholders have spaces within them making them useless, and sometimes there's random small kana within some sentences (probably a result of find and replace), among other typos. I'm half tempted to upload my edited version, but its probably a waste of time and more efficient to just point the typos out and maybe they'll be fixed in the next update with more lines translated. In terms of a style guide I found http://yukkuri.wikia.com/wiki/Translator%27s_Guide and http://yukkuri.wikia.com/wiki/Translator%27s_Discussion, though there's probably some game specific dialogue that this doesn't cover.

Also 1.02 is out and it has a FUCKLOAD of new text, thanks to the dev implementing a parent/sibling system. It's also not as simple of a copy and paste job as before, copying the old text and adding the new text just crashes the game, at least on the adult file. Sometimes if you copy paste a line it crashes but if you type the same line from scratch it doesn't. This is some arcane shit. I'll have to see what's up.

Updated

I've translated all the new text for the kos.

--IRRELEVANT--

Keep in mind the adult script in this .zip is the original Japanese version. It won't work as a drag-and-drop otherwise. I've been experiencing a weird bug in the adult script where if certain lines have their translation copy pasted in, the game won't load past the New Game screen. ma_sei_ikari_musi, ma_sei_pa_dokan_out, ma_sei_pa_dokan_out_2 is an example. There's only two new blocks of text for the adult compared to the boat loads for the ko (which were thankfully mostly repeats of previous lines), but getting it running is the real hairball here, and it's a problem I'm putting off for another day. There's some hope that this is just a bug that the dev added, and it'll get fixed eventually, but if it doesn't, it looks like we're going to go on a bug hunt of our own.

EDIT: So my autism got the better of me and I spent the next couple of hours copy pasting every single block one by one to see what was wrong. Turns out the problem was that the problematic lines (only those 3 mentioned above, really) were using the child format instead of the adult format. I have no idea how that didn't get past the check in the first place on previous versions, but I guess now we know to look out for it. On the plus side, all that time spent poring over each and every line meant I managed to do some editing and removed some typos, bad punctuation, etc. I also translated the new text for the adult, too.

Updated

I had begun working on it, but lately I didn't have as much time as I'd need. Still, uploading what I have is better than nothing
It's mostly a typo fix for both child and adult, like how there were still some "jr" instead of "je", or sometimes some missing spaces here and there (among others)
I also decided to change the slurring to make it closer to the other lines, so some word were changed, like "don'ch" became "don'd"
Some slurred words were actually "wrong", in the sense that looking at other translations (like comics), they were different, so I changed to the more common form (notable example: "right" is usually slurred as "wight", but in some places here it was "rightch")
Also translated some more pages of the manual, notably the action section, though only the first category (bare hands) has been translated and it's incomplete

God bless it

For those still interested, since the last translation release there were a few updates, but no change in text
Some days ago, there was a new release that introduced stalk pregnancy, but again no change in text
This happened with today's release, adding lines for pregnancy and giving birth
Don't have a new translation release right now, but hopefully there'll be one in the following days

On a side note, the "pict" folder contains pictures for a bunch of text that are not in the "text" folder, like the initial "take it easy" (in different slurred variants), or the house declaration, and even some images from the user interfaces
If someone could edit them with english text it would be great

Oh hey, look what I have.
https://mega.nz/#!snhjVAhJ!9zOEm6LQZljnvtf68ayS98GvD_bnIDJ5WZT5E8OFZLk
I've been making bugfixes and small translations in the file for the past couple of weeks (like fixing adult lines in the child script and vice versa) but I decided to wait until the next text update until I upload an update. I translated some of the new lines, but a few are beyond my meager moonspeak ability. I really should translate some of the existing text backlog, but there are so many more productive things I could be doing with my free time that don't involve creating something I would be embarrassed to show to anyone I know. It'll probably hurt my social standing less if I showed them my hentai portfolio or something.

I've actually tried editing the pictures a few weeks ago, but it seems like the tolerances for editing picture files are much lower than text when it comes to crashing the game. At least when it comes to using Paint and Gimp. I'll see if edited pictures from Photoshop work ingame later. As for the pictures themselves, I've been wondering what's the best way to approach them artistically. I've been using Comic Sans for my first attempt, which hurts me inside, but seems to be the closest stylistically to the Japanese font than anything else, unless someone can think of something better. The real question is how we'll be able to edit the menu text. People have managed to do this before by editing the .exe, as show years ago in this thread. Is it worth trying again, and is there an easier way out there?
