After a while of having no response from her mother, Komarisa stopped calling. She hadn't given up, but her tiny body just didn't have enough strength to go on. How she wished there was some food nearby to fill her tummy...
But Komarisa's calls weren't able to attract the attention of her mother. After all, her mother was already exhausted and had fallen into a deep sleep.
"Yuyu... yuyu... li... little one..."
"Mommwy, Maricha is heeeeewe, huwwy up and wub wuuub... need michter munch munch... yuyu..."
Komarisa was enveloped by hunger and cold. She knew that there was supposed to be mister munch munch after she was born, and mommy was supposed to be there to rub rub. But neither of these things appeared before her. Komarisa began to cry out for the things she should have had.
"Yuaaaaaaaaa! Michter munch munch come eajyyyy, Maricha's tummy is emptyyyyy..."
"Mommwy? Maricha wanchs to wub wub! Canch take it easjyyyy..."
Komarisa entered the world, her little voice calling softly. But around her there was only silence. Komarisa was confused. She knew that her mother was supposed to be there to give her a loving rub rub. But where was her mother? It was dark, and Komarisa couldn't see anything.
Komarisa had been born on a cold winter night. An exhausted and injured Reimu stumbled into the box and hurried to pile some dead grass into a nest. Her stomach was wracked with pain. Her little one was about to be born.
In a corner of the park, there lived a pair of yukkuri. A mother Reimu and her Komarisa.
Their home was a beaten-up paper box, and there they lay without moving. Heaps of withered yellow weeds were stacked around and inside the box. This was the 'barrier' which Reimu had built to hide her family from view.
