What was going on? Anon was trying to raise yukkuri with little-to-no interaction from him/her other than supplies?
The Marisas looked like they were being easy, until they bred too much. Without a single leader rising up to command the tribe, that seems to always be the result.
The Reimus couldn't handle themselves. Only error I see in this continuum is that yukkuri can't breed with same-type.
Let's also not forget the fact that mushrooms can't -really- take root in them. They're manju, and their insides are bean paste. Fungi can't be sustained by that, nor can they be by the sugar or water content.
It's hard for one who doesn't have the intellect of a yukkuri to understand the intellect of a yukkuri.
The small thing does not exactly understand how the world works. She doesn't understand that someone took painstaking time and effort to care for that garden. She thinks it magically springs up out of the ground. She thinks it was luck, or God, that lead her to this place for her to take it easy in.
I don't get why it's "deibu," it's just a Reimu family and their unfortunate demise at the hands of a scum family. I'm somewhat surprised the anon intervened and killed all of them, though it would have been nice to see him just take in the remaining child.
A mother's genuine, dying wish shouldn't just be ignored. Bad karma in that.
