The Reimu seems to be a rather nice one, being that she so willingly let Marisa join their little family, and even apologized on their behalf in order to save Marisa.
The other two little ones, maybe not so much, but they can be taught.

I like this. Wish the whole thing was translated. Still, cute. Kind of had the same basic idea for a story I wanted to write. Start with one yukkuri, wind up having an entire self-sustaining village. Even teach yukkuri how to count higher than 3 (trinary -- count by 3's)
Even though it's sad and touching, it still ends happily for everyone. Trial and overcoming adversity, and the reward for having a strong spirit. Even though the Alice never knew her parents, she still pressed on. It's not often a koyukkuri can last on it's own, but she did it.
As for Yukkuri Family, no, that was a terrible plot twist.
BOOMSUDDENLYCHILDRENAREDEAD. Yeah, that was horrible. There was no redemption, there was no second chance. She died and saw her family just as she was dying. Just because she died with a smile on her face doesn't make it better.
He seems to have a thing for hating the mother/Reimu. In most stories, the Reimu is often the ill-tempered, bad-mannered.
Then again, almost everything Takumi ends with the yukkuri dying, whether squashed, starved, melted, or whatever. They die pissing and pooping on themselves.
