It really isn't much of a deal honestly, but maybe i felt it was weird that suddenly Nezumi mentioned Xenogears and say this has to be a parody of that when nobody did before, specially when a great deal of the comments we had in the non translated original were more about soylent green.

You mean the comment made four pages later, way back seven months ago? post #28023

Ah, sorry, I should have been more clear. I was referring to why it was allowed to live from a literary standpoint, rather than in-story perspective from the last part. As for the in-story reasons, I think you hit the nail on the head.

If it was a literary standpoint, I'd say DV Reimu should've died, since it would've been a far less cruel fate that living in misery.

Despite the initial bad impression from the Death Voice yukkuri, it was a "nicehead" deep down just like its sister more obviously was.

Or to quote JIE's scale of Yukkuri Alignment, DV Reimu was a "scum with potential" yukkuri.

It continues to live not because of its actions, but by the whim of Miss Owner. We're probably shown the lull between abuse sessions that DV Reimu will suffer in for the rest of her miserable life.

Any comment from 2ch or something that backs up that idea? because for me it's just "Soylent Green ver Yukkuri" style scenario with the Patchouli giving some hint of not being an average patchouli by having the glasses.

It could be a coincidence for all we know, specially if that scene you mentioned is also based in the concept of soylent green and learning the horrible truth behind it.

If you have to be nitpicky about it now, that scene in Xenogears was a direct homage from the climatic scene in Soylent Green.

Isn't the whole point of a relay comic that it's 'LOL so random ekx dee!' until all participants loose interest and the projects silently dies?

    Truth, sadly.

... This is going off on a tangent, but I just checked, and we don't have a single picture of Byakuren suffering genuine abuse. There's a gag where a Shizuka does... something to a Byakuren, among others, and two where a Byakuren is an ingredient in a boobkkuri, but that's it.

Not really surprising, Byakuren is a rare-type.

Isn't putting Byakuren on a can of Wriggle fogger sort of like putting Gandhi on a box of rat poison?

Before she became Youkai Messiah Byakuren was a black mage youkai exterminator.

Right bubble is "yukkuris are fiction of -akis and does not resemble any real person, object, thing, event etc etc"

It's just a "fill in the blank" thing.

I think the speech bubbles are also a direct homage of the last page of murayuaki's popular yuugaku education series: post #26174
