Discussing the origins of various concepts and elements

I was recently shocked when a recent user was unaware of kiriraitaa's seminal abuse work True Happiness (pool #440 / pool #251), which is the origin of the now-ubiquitous poo poo dance and might have been the first appearance of leaf diapers. His light abuse story Between Studies (pool #124) introduced visual staples like a yukkuri hurting itself trying to punish an electric cable and a yukkuri trying to heal its shredded accessory by licking it. He invented the House Yu subspecies (pool #604). I don't know if he invented shell marisa (pool #294) and wasa reimu, but his comics are where I first saw them. Similarly I don't know if Between Studies is the first time a yukkuri declared a pebble to be its "treasure", but it's the first time I saw it. Is there anyone who's memory goes far back enough to speak on this?

It happened? I thought everyone discovering this place had read Kiri's works at least once.
Or are you referring to my (;_;) comment at post #74489?
I meant it as "in eight years we've never really seen much about poisonous plants".

I think some Kimoaki's pictures were older than that story.
However, I'm not sure as it's based on the timestamp and comments on this site, so it's not really accurate.
Also most of the ankos from that time are lost, so for all we know the first Shell Marisa could've been in text.

When I first got here I went through the gallery from the oldest to the (at the time) most recent upload, and I'm 100% sure wasas weren't a thing until True Happiness (though they appeared in Kiri's earlier works, but they were still similar to normal Reimu).

No, sorry.
It's one of those things you don't really notice until someone asks you (for me at least).

It started off as some random drawing which caught on. It's hard to pinpoint and credit the artist tbh. Even something like "this shit's so good!" started off as some artist's take.

I think that was kiriraitaa, too, or that at least he was the one who named it, in his Shell Marisa series. That's where I first remember it from.

Was True Happiness the point abyuse caught on? I remember someone once mentioned that people got really pissy at kiriraitaa for taking the cute memeheads and going to town on them, but I didn't hear anything back whether that's true or he was just giving a colorful description of the typical reaction to it.

Oh no. People were making yukkuri abuse comics for years before kiriraitaa showed up. You had people like amagian, clammbon, patchouli_guy, rorinko and others. I think the first abuse artist as we think of it today was either sunakoishi_ten or dos.

pool #177 is definitely older than anything Kiri, and it's much more gruesome (in my opinion) than True Happiness.
